PW's hiring committee is meeting twice a week, but not sure what day. I think they used to meet on Wednesdays, but not sure if that is still true.
PW (two day turnaround) and STB (one day turnaround) offers yesterday.

3L here. I highly highly recommend talking to OCS right now. A bunch of people struck out of EIP in my class, but many of these same people were still able to get big firm jobs through mass mailing and backdoor options that OCS has available. But these options are only available if you act quickly. The more time that passes, the less effective mass mailing becomes. The closer you get to classes starting, the fewer spots open for OCS to put you into consideration. Definitely don't wait. At the worst you talk to OCS for 30 minutes and spend some time sending out some applications that you didn't need to send. You never know with these things, so better to be cautious and expand your options as much as possible.Anonymous User wrote:I have only 1 cb so far, but I haven't heard back from 16 firms yet, including 3 from last week. Also, based on the info here, most of the 16 firms have not contacted people yet, at least for my interviewers. Should I be worried? Or should I keep cool until say Wednesday next week?

Yea this makes sense. They have a huge pile of candidates they need to go through, so it's certainly possible that they don't get to all of them during one meetingAnonymous User wrote:Last year a friend and I interviewed on the same day at PW. Does anyone have any idea about how law firms "manage their yield"? Do firms run rounds of callbacks to see who actually accepts? Is it possible to be in limbo between a ding and a callback?

Sorry to bring this up again - but anything from Deb JL??
I thought the interview went well and this is a firm I really wanted. Obviously expect the worst at this point, but really want some closure.

Ya that's what I'm feeling right now. Many of mine haven't got back to me yet. I'm thinking maybe some of them gave cbs out already but also have some kind of a waitlist, so if people decline their cbs or if they don't find candidates that fit from the cbs already conducted, they might reach out to people on the list. No info to support this tho, pure speculation.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone have any idea about how law firms "manage their yield"? Do firms run rounds of callbacks to see who actually accepts? Re: Columbia EIP 2014
OCS has a better sense of what firms are still looking than you will doing mass mailing. As incompetent as they are, OCS has good relationships with firm recruiting offices and might be able to bump you ahead in the line if the firms are searching for additional people. There's the story of the Kent scholar who struck out of EIP where OCS called firms individually asking if they wanted to interview the person. In addition there are fellowships and smaller firms who didn't do eip but still pay market. OCS will have a good handle on those opportunities.Anonymous User wrote:What are these backdoor options? just curious.
But no matter what, don't wait. If you think you're in trouble, talk to OCS as soon as possible. These options become less effective over time and OCI is by no means a replacement for EIP. The sooner you start to mass mail and branch out, the more options you will have. The longer you wait, the fewer opportunities will be available.

Re: Columbia EIP 2014
Law firms absolutely manage yield. The impression I got from recruiting at my SA is that it's a lot like LS admissions in that, based on prior history, you expect to be able to convert X% of offers into acceptances. The metrics are delicate and firms will necessarily need to string some people along in case some manipulation needs to be done. For example, a V20 last summer tried to do some extra callbacks for women because, for some reason or another, ~70% of their SA class were men. This is a firm that is fairly well known to be a great place for women. Similarly, you don't want to do a ton of callbacks if you expect the majority of offerees to accept, because then you have too many people.

I'm also waiting on this interviewer. I also thought my interview went well, and overall I've had a decent number of callbacks from the interviews I subjectively thought went well. I think there's a non-negligible chance this interviewer just hasn't done calls yet.Anonymous User wrote:Sorry to bring this up again - but anything from Deb JL??

Re: Columbia EIP 2014
I remember OCS gave us a percentage of people who got jobs through EIP last year, and it seemed extremely high and optimistic - does anyone know what percentage that was?
And does anyone else feel that more people are striking out than should be expected? I know a bunch of people who seem perfectly normal/friendly/charming and they haven't gotten any CBs at all, which to me seems insane.

I haven't seen anyone post BSF lit on here or heard of anyone with my interviewer getting a CB. Does anyone know of a CB going out?

It was 86%, but in the past few years it's ranged from low 80's to 92%.Anonymous User wrote:It was 84%, I believe.Anonymous User wrote:I remember OCS gave us a percentage of people who got jobs through EIP last year, and it seemed extremely high and optimistic - does anyone know what percentage that was?
