I can't help being surprised since I have offers or CB's from all the similarly selective firms and my PW interview wasn't particularly egregious. You can't win em all!

For screeners where CBs have gone out, yeah, but not for a callback just because you didn't hear the very next day. Give it whatever period they told youAnonymous User wrote:yes I know.Anonymous User wrote:exactly. silence= de facto dingAnonymous User wrote:they haven't even dinged me from my screener yet haha.Anonymous User wrote:PW callback wednesday. Today at my cb they said that they tell people a week, but its often much quicker. Its basically when they are able to get the materials compiled from each of ur interviewers.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know how long Cleary takes usually for offers?

I mean no disrespect to "the recruiting people who have to schedule interviews" - they are generally lovely people and we rely on them to make the trains run on time. But trust me, if you ask any attorney involved in the process, they'll agree with me.Anonymous User wrote:enibs wrote:Please, please, please do not follow the advice in the last sentence. If you conclude you would not under any circumstances accept an offer at a firm where you have a callback, cancel the callback even if it's two minutes before it's scheduled to start!Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote: What is the policy for canceling scheduled CBs once booked?
Let them know ASAP, so that they can give the spot to someone else. 48 hours notice is preferable, but 24 is required. Within 24, go on the callback.
I assure you that no lawyer wants to interview you if there's no chance you'll accept an offer at their firm. They will be very grateful to you for cancelling. And no firm wants to give you an offer that you are certain to reject. And if you let the firm make you an offer that you are certain to reject, you may be taking an offer away from one of your classmates who would be happy to accept it.
Obviously it would be better to cancel with more notice. But no matter when it is, if you decide there's no chance that you'd accept an offer from the firm, cancel the callback. Please.
Sure. Don't follow the advice that I gave that I got directly from the recruiting people who have to schedule interviews. Burn those bridges. Who cares?
Now I will observe that if it's an out-of-town interview and you cancel after you've already flown into town, you'll have a hard time convincing the firm on whom you've cancelled to reimburse your travel expenses. So as a matter of your own self-interest, that may be a bad idea. But from the firm's perspective, they'd rather you cancel on short notice or no notice than to waste their lawyers' time by interviewing when you've already decided you wouldn't accept an offer from the firm even if you received one.

If you're saying that you're not one to hold a grudge, that's awesome, but I've seen people hold grudges for less. I'd rather go to an interview I didn't want to go on than burn bridges, especially because people move around, and you never know.enibs wrote:I mean no disrespect to "the recruiting people who have to schedule interviews" - they are generally lovely people and we rely on them to make the trains run on time. I have only 1 cb so far, but I haven't heard back from 16 firms yet, including 3 from last week. Also, based on the info here, most of the 16 firms have not contacted people yet, at least for my interviewers. Should I be worried? Or should I keep cool until say Wednesday next week?

I don't think you should be freaking out yet, but a lot of callbacks have gone out at this point even if they have not been posted here (not everybody who receives callbacks posts here, I sometimes don't). You should start mass-mailing and prepare for the worst case scenario.Anonymous User wrote:I have only 1 cb so far, but I haven't heard back from 16 firms yet, including 3 from last week. This. You won't regret mailing regardless of what happens, and all you need is one to convert into an offer.Anonymous User wrote:I don't think you should be freaking out yet, but a lot of callbacks have gone out at this point even if they have not been posted here (not everybody who receives callbacks posts here, I sometimes don't). I've done alright in New York but horribly in the secondary market I grew up and went to school in, as in one CB out of 16-17 screeners at EIP. I got four CBs in that region from mailing hard to CLS alumni/people I had a vague connection with the week or two before EIP. If I get an offer over there, it'll be because of that.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
