Got an offer for an international inhouse gig. Debating on whether or not to take it because that would mean I wouldn't be in the states to attend diversity fairs. Thoughts?

I have a feeling they've likely already notified the person(s) who they plan to take for this summer. Given that Weil's big interview day was last Tuesday (and during that they seemed to intimate a fast turnaround), it seems unlikely that they would take over a week to contact via phone those to whom they are extending offers. Maybe at this point the ding snail mail is en route?

Agree the long response time usually = no offer. Though it seems a bit odd that no offers would have been reported on this forum, given the (relatively) large size of their 1L class.

FWIW, given location, I would have received a snail mail ding if they had been sent prior to today. Maybe it's coming tomorrow, though.

There are a few at h who have had offers for a while now I believe; do you happen to know if that offer was extended before or after Weil's big interview day last Tuesday?

I'm a 1L. I accepted a position last week at a public interest organization. I had an interview with a private firm scheduled for this past Wednesday through Spring OCI. I figured it wouldn't hurt to go to the interview for practice. I also expected I wouldn't hear back from the firm.

I did the interview. It went splendidly. Now I have received an email for a second interview, at the firm's office. I need to tell them that I'm already taken. But I'm concerned that the quick turnaround of their email may make me suspicious. I don't know if it would make sense to tell them, two days after I interviewed with them, that I am no longer available for summer work.

How do you all suggest I approach this? Should I just tell them I am no longer available? Will that reflect poorly on me?

Personally, I would do the callback and if I got the job at the firm, I would take it. That is unless you're gunning for PI.

But you're being paranoid about the "quick turnaround." This is legal hiring, and there are plenty of other people that would happily take your interview slot at the firm. Trust me, they don't care about you as much as you think.

No, the problem is that I've already accepted the job at the public interest organization. I received the offer two weeks ago. I accepted it and I have even planned my schedule with my advisor at the organization. There's no backing out of it, and I don't want to back out of it, either.
