thanks for the reply. I did receive the cb. But it's been a week since the cb and it's radio silence. I'm just wondering when they release the result... and if they have already release it, am I rejected : /Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 9:25 amOCS said some callbacks have gone out there.

It's great for people with good grades. I'm saying that as someone with really good grades. I benefitted tremendously from pre-OCI. But I definitely feel like it's hurting overall results, especially given our huge class size.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 3:38 pmFirms will still do OCI for top schools - they will not want to miss out on having the opportunity to easily interview bunch of students from HYS for example.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 9:25 pm3 offers pre-OCI and absolute jack shit from OCI itself so far. Happy to have offers, but I think OCI is moving to just a cleanup for firms to fill spots they still need. Would love to see the # of offers through OCI over the last few years, maybe I'm wrong.
But for schools further down the rankings, firms are shifting towards Pre-OCI so they don't have to spend as much time doing the entire OCI process. Firms like Orrick have already started decreasing OCI spots at some schools in T-14.

Not at GULC, but this is exactly why many OCS's at top schools don't want pre-OCI to exist. Lottery OCIs force employers to interview with those they otherwise would not have bothered with (usually due to grades).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 5:20 pmIt's great for people with good grades. I think in the end, it should be fine for most students because firms will want their usual fill of students from top schools. It might just prolong the recruiting season for those at the bottom, especially if they are not diligent in searching for non-OCI recruiting paths.

Re: GULC OCI 2021
Think it depends on the OCS advisor. My advisor heavily encouraged me to apply early AND strongly advised DC-only lit focus for OCI bids (top 10%). Early apps 1 offer (albeit CB was week of OCI; market moved slowly still) , OCI 10 CBs (didn’t take all), 3 offers all in DC. I feel fortunate and recognize many are struggling still, but wanted to give OCS some credit. Not fair that not everyone got the same advice.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 1:17 pmAnon who originally mentioned OCS here. To be fair, my OCS advisor absolutely said to do pre-OCI generally, but indicated that it was really only necessary or helpful in New York. I ignored her and got pre-oci offers in DC, so it's no skin off my back, but it also absolutely sucks for those who fairly trusted OCS. The reality is that most students in June aren't thinking about how high levels of pre-oci + small classes = few spots at OCI, even if they know DC is harder. I really think OCS needs to be frank about this specific dynamic in DC.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:24 amThey definitely seem to have pushed it more than they did last cycle. I think they need to be more aggressive though. If you're lit focused you need to be going hard on pre-OCI from the minute grades come back.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 7:45 amFWIW every OCS advisor I spoke with pushed for applying pre-OCI so sorry you dealt with someone on their staff that did not get the memo.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 12:13 amI feel like an idiot for trusting OCS. I'm top ~15%, maxed out my screener interviews, and I have zero callbacks. At this point I'm assuming OCI is a loss and I'm sending applications to anyplace that I can find.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 11:34 pmLol that’s malpractice if OCS really told y’all that. I did predominantly DC OCI in 2019 and many firms filled out huge chunks of their offices entirely with pre-OCI candidates. I think it was almost pointless to bid Skadden DC my year cause they filled so many spots pre-OCI.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 4:33 pmOCS was insistent that pre-OCI was not a big thing in dc and would not affect what jobs were available at OCI. I know a ton of people with multiple dc offers pre-oci (including firms OCS said didn't) while it seems to be very slow at OCI. I can't help but think they were totally wrong and the smaller classes are largely full.
