Still curious about DC, I haven't heard of any dings or CBs so far.

Everything sucks. I have awesome work experience and have generally excellent interviews . . . but it doesn't matter.Anonymous User wrote:how is the below median gang doing?

My grades apparently define me.
I was pretty energetic Monday, but by now, dings are rolling in, even from firms I at which I'm competitive, and I am beginning to go insane. Why did I ever think I could work at a law firm? Even going to Duke, I guess I'm not part of the "in" crowd.
I got stellar reviews this summer at my internship. I wish employers could see the same.
Regardless, anyone I see tomorrow who is not doing well, I am silently rooting for you.
No, you're not over reacting, it probably won't be good for you. Also why did you write a thank you email for a screener in the first place? We were explicitly told not to. That's probably the bigger issue.Anonymous User wrote:Sent a thank you email after a screener interview and forgot to include the word “to”, so the sentence doesn’t make much sense.
Really upset right now because I absolutely loved this firm and felt like the interview went really well. How much will this affect me? Am I overreacting?

Did you not get the Monday email from Julia DiPrete, Assistant Dean & Director with CPDC?Anonymous User wrote:Sent a thank you email after a screener interview and forgot to include the word “to”, so the sentence doesn’t make much sense.

It's pretty common TLS wisdom these days. http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=233091Subject: No thank you notes after OCI screeners
Hi class of 2020, hope the first day of OCI went smoothly for those participating. Just a quick note of clarification in response to a lot of questions today: Please do not send thank you notes to your OCI screener interviewers. We do not want to flood the inboxes of the interviewers, who do not expect to receive them anyway. (If you already did, don’t freak out, but you don’t have to send any more).
Please contact your career counselor if you have any questions. See you tomorrow!
Best,
Julia

I basically agree, although some of the receptions are actually pretty decent dinners which is nice. Also, they're definitely not mandatory, I've gotten CBs where I skipped the reception and/or the hospitality suite. (IMO the hospitality suites can be especially awkward.)Anonymous User wrote:A bunch of these firms seem to call themselves "no nonsense" but then go and have receptions . . . like I want to go to a reception after a long day of interviewing. These receptions to me are just more hoops to jump through. I honestly dislike firms who hold receptions for eating more of my time.
I can't really afford to be picky, but dang. I guess I'm not "cool enough" to get it.
