Good news: we've picked up chatter indicating that the Covington partners have circulated an internal memo outlining the reasons why the "DC market" does not support the new Cravath bonus scale. This is a strong sign that the industry expects CSM to bump up bonuses.

Covington plans to lead the way by preemptively offering significantly reduced bonuses, while already having drafted the walk back "jk here you go" when everybody else follows CSM's well-earned bump and makes them look like fools, again.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the CSM partner lunch ended just before 2 pm, and no announcement has been made. Substantive decisions are usually made at partner meetings on the first Monday of the month, so the announcement was more likely to be made next Monday, anyway (although the bonus announcements -- including last year's -- haven't always followed that trend).
