This is upsetting. Maybe I should've held off on that 80 inch tv on Friday.

Nah, the credit card bill doesn't hit until next month. Since huge bonuses are basically confirmed, I'd get it now.LaLiLuLeLo wrote:This is upsetting. Maybe I should've held off on that 80 inch tv on Friday.

It's hard to get excited about stub bonuses, especially after tax withholding.
Will update the moment CSM sends the memo though

Do they not still make an announcement even if the bonus scale remains the same?anonnymouse wrote:Cravath partner meeting is typically a lunch if I recall. Of course they still make an announcement. I'm suggesting that if ATL hasn't published by 4:30pm today, then we're in for NOBONUS.PorscheFanatic wrote:Do they not still make an announcement even if the bonus scale remains the same?anonnymouse wrote:Cravath partner meeting is typically a lunch if I recall. Be patient, my friends. CSM partners are scrambling to secure extra loans that will finance the higher bonuses that the firm must pay in order to attract and retain elite associate talent.anonnymouse wrote:Cravath partner meeting is typically a lunch if I recall. Can you even imagine what would happen to associate morale if they didn't raise? The repercussions would be truly incrediblerpupkin wrote:Be patient, my friends. On a compliance call. A memo posting would make this call *so* much more gooder.

Good news: we've picked up chatter indicating that the Covington partners have circulated an internal memo outlining the reasons why the "DC market" does not support the new Cravath bonus scale. This is a strong sign that the industry expects CSM to bump up bonuses.SmokeytheBear wrote:On a compliance call. A memo posting would make this call *so* much more gooder.

Covington plans to lead the way by preemptively offering significantly reduced bonuses, while already having drafted the walk back "jk here you go" when everybody else follows CSM's well-earned bump and makes them look like fools, again.rpupkin wrote:Good news: we've picked up chatter indicating that the Covington partners have circulated an internal memo outlining the reasons why the "DC market" does not support the new Cravath bonus scale. A&P, Wilmer, Hogan, etc. not even taking their calls on DC market coordination strategy any more

By my math, it's almost 3pm in NYC. What's the deal?

CSM calling all their peers to tell them not to increase bonuses over their flat announcement in anticipation of salaries to 200k in January.SmokeytheBear wrote:By my math, it's almost 3pm in NYC. What's the deal?

Thanksgiving was really early this year. It's possible Cravath doesn't announce bonuses until Monday of next week.SmokeytheBear wrote:By my math, it's almost 3pm in NYC. What's the deal?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the CSM partner lunch ended just before 2 pm, and no announcement has been made. Substantive decisions are usually made at partner meetings on the first Monday of the month, so the announcement was more likely to be made next Monday, anyway (although the bonus announcements -- including last year's -- haven't always followed that trend).SmokeytheBear wrote:By my math, it's almost 3pm in NYC. Other than 2015 and 2013, the trend is to announce in November. See my extraordinarily well-researched post of two years ago:Anonymous User wrote:I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the CSM partner lunch ended just before 2 pm, and no announcement has been made.
