I have some really positive (but brief) responses to MM from 2 firms that are doing CBs (and I think some offers) that boiled down to "if you can't see us at OCI re-reach out." Most of the firms that respond positively say something like "Penn's rules dictate . . ."
My school has the same stupid rule. T1.
Well with the rapid rise of pre-oci, schools that don't allow this are putting themselves at a disadvantage. Like TTTPENN. Penn to below GT status. You heard it hear first.

Am I understanding you right that Penn doesn't let any firm interview its students before OCI? I can understand why they wouldn't want kids doing that for firms that are coming on campus, but as a blanket rule that's just crazy. Maybe they want to incentivize the firms to come to OCI? Screwing over your students as firms start taking more serious pre-OCI looks.

Anyway, when are people planning on sending out Round 1 of mass mail? I read somewhere on here, and had this confirmed by a couple (literally 2) of hiring attorneys that it makes more sense to send these out "late July" when firms shift there focus from their present SA class to the next one. I was thinking I would try to get them out before the weekend, but I'm guessing some on here have already pushed the button?

Not any firm, just the firms that come to OCI. But there are two significant reasons why that is still a bad policy:

First, if there are firms that are from small markets (like I am trying to go to) that I am working at this summer I know they are not sending a representative from that office to OCI. So not only do I have to waste very high ranking bids on these firms but I'm getting essentially a worse screener as the outcome because it is not someone from the office I am actually applying to. It also means I have to fly cross country for any CBs that I could have just taken a half day off my summer job to attend.

Second, from the OP these schools gave out pre-OCI offers--all but one comes to Penn--the biggest pre-OCI movers are the 'best' firms that schools should be doing everything they can to not bar their students from:

Lol I go to Penn and I got an offer at a V20 pre-OCI. The key is to not be an asshole and continually reach out to CP&P for advice/handholding. It does suck that people are no getting interviews based on the policy though.

I'm pretty sure that you can add Latham DC as well, they've done a few pre-OCI offers in the last few years.

Congrats. What was the turn around time from the CB to the offer?
A couple of days. Very quick turnaround.

Wondering if pre-OCI job search is faring well for people with below-median grades at T6. I mass-mailed all firms that I know have been doing pre-OCI interviews and have no single bite yet. I guess it's my grades that are holding me back.

MMed a firm - Firm asked if I would be willing to come in (on my own dime) for an "informational visit" to meet an attorney - what does that usually entail

I usually see "informational" in relation to reaching out to an attorney and getting coffee with them or some sort, but in this more formal setting I would probably interpret it as a screener.

Does the firm start with an L?

I received a similar email this week from a firm starting with a W. Though based on how the email was framed, I don't think it's an interview (hope I'm wrong).

How far in advance do firms notify you of a call back? For example do they call and offer a call back spot for later that week or in a few weeks?

I'm on the west coast applying for NYC jobs

Even if it's not a screener per se, it could lead to a CB - I got one at Baker & McKenzie last year following a coffee/informational interview with one of their attorneys. Prep for it like a screener, but don't be surprised if it's less formal/structured.
