Unless someone corrects me, yes. Why would they invite you to a dinner after they've already seen your grades and determined whether you're a weirdo.Anonymous User wrote:So one of these dinners = a callback?

^Yes I was at the Baker Botts dinner and it was for all offices, but they separated us by region e.g. DC table, TX table, etc.
Does anyone know specifically for Gibson if a lack of a dinner invitation means you've been dinged. I thought my interview went really well but haven't heard anything from them.

Generally, lack of a dinner invitation means you have been dinged. A few people received a CB without a dinner invite, but they were truly exceptional (top couple people in the class).Anonymous User wrote:^Yes I was at the Baker Botts dinner and it was for all offices, but they separated us by region e.g. DC table, TX table, etc.

Two things: it seems like this thread is less active than normal and it's still only Tuesday. So it could be your class uses TLS less often than usual. If that's not the case, callbacks for Monday and Tuesday interviews are still very much on the table, save for the dinner shenanigans.

They're the exception: Paul comma Weiss, GDC, Baker, and Norton (never heard of this firm though). I would assume it's a normal callback for most other firms.Anonymous User wrote:what firms are known for doing dinners?

Last year Gibson Dunn and Paul Weiss were the two NY firms that did it (Gibson did it for all offices not just NY). I am not sure about other markets though. They aren't very common thoughAnonymous User wrote:what firms are known for doing dinners?

Jones Day NY, Fried Frank DC, Baker Botts NY, White & Case NY have all made some CBs that I know of.
Also Mayer Brown has dinged some people but not sure for what offices.ETA: for at least the Chicago office

From the CA side, I remember Gibson, Munger, and Pillsbury.Anonymous User wrote:what firms are known for doing dinners?
