We're also talking about a class that only had, what, 20-25 students, so the number of incorrect A/A-s is only like 6-7.BmoreOrLess wrote:I doubt it will have a hugggge class-wide impact, and the biggest impact would come from the incorrect A-'s. I suspect most, if not all, of the people who really got B-'s are people who would likely towards median/bottom 1/3 anyways (and almost certainly not in the top 10/15), so one A isn't going to swing it that much. If anything it would have an impact on the top third cutoffs, but it is highly doubtful it had an impact on the top 10/15.registering wrote:That might help explain why their top third/15%/10% cutoffs are higher than everyone else's.Anonymous User wrote:I think it was about 60% A/A-s. I was in that class. The professor accidentally sorted his Excel spreadsheet without noticing, so all the exam numbers got jumbled around. Needless to say, it was a mess.

I keep hearing people talk about hours and hours of pre-EIW research. What the hell am I supposed to be looking for on firm webpages and vault or whatever

Just like when they tell you how many hours they spent reading for con law last night, most of your classmates are lying to you, and the others are pouring way more time in than necessary.TheSpanishMain wrote:I keep hearing people talk about hours and hours of pre-EIW research. You have to know enough to hold a 20 minute conversation, and not embarrass yourself. That's it. There are no bonus interview points for bring up the dissent in the case that your interviewer second-chaired a deposition for 6 years ago. Most of the interview is selling yourself and being engaged. It's not a quiz about the firm.
Don't tell them how much you want to work in the city where they don't have an office. Don't express an interest in a practice area that the firm doesn't actually have. Don't express an interest in a practice area that the firm claims to have, but if you look at the roster the only guy in city X who does practice Y is 193 years old and retired. Ask questions about the assignment distribution in their summer program. Tell them that you're really interested in their [insert buzzword here: unassigned/rotation/flexible] program.
Remember that you can always weed out firms that you don't think are a good fit after you have an offer in-hand. Until then, all fit is better than unemployment. The goal of every interview is to get a callback, not to determine if the firm will fulfill all your greatest passions in life. You're on the wrong side of the table for being picky.

Re: Georgetown - EIW 2015
Yea, I don't think it's hours of research for screeners. My plan is to be able to ask and speak intelligently about their summer/junior assignment programs, and maybe about general firm structure. I'm saving the more specific practice area questions for (theoretical) callbacks where I'm more likely to be interviewing with people in their practice areas. For screeners, they may not be able to answer more specific questions and it could just make the conversation awkward.

Re: Georgetown - EIW 2015
Schedules are definitely dropping tomorrow (the 29th). The EIW employer manual (you can find it if you do some googling) indicates that employers could see schedules yesterday, presumably to make sure they don't interview non-IP people for IP-only spots or interview someone they've met with already pre-EIW.
Journals are a damn mystery. It's beyond me why they need more than two months to sort it out.

Well yes, we have to have access on the 29th because that is when the cancellation period begins. But there's no language as to when they are released. Granted, GULC has done nothing to show us that they will do anything ahead of schedule. So you're likely correct, though I wouldn't rule out the possibility of today.Anonymous User wrote:It says in the EIW employer manual "Students will be able to view schedules on July 29th"

I respect your undying optimism in the face of past GULC history, where everything is delayed to the maximum extent, always, especially when it's really annoying and/or important.JustHawkin wrote:Well yes, we have to have access on the 29th because that is when the cancellation period begins.
