Today was a fail. Bought the wrong sized envelopes last week; couldn't fit my writing sample. Waste of $18 at the Post Office. Had to go out and spend another $7 plus whatever shipping is, which I'll find out tomorrow .

One minute to never. Literally can't predict. You can always follow up after 3 weeks or so.

I think that's pretty standard when applying to judges.

Tons of reasons, likely because the person applying doesn't fit what they are looking for: ties to the area not good enough, not diverse enough, not IPish enough, too schmo-y/generic, etc.

Applying to firms is probably a fool's errand for the vast majority of 1L's but the reward/effort ratio is super high and you never know if you'll end up like top 1% and will get hired for good grades alone.

That's what I did, except I uploaded only PDFs.

Better get used to it. I think my all time fastest ding was 5 minutes. Dings at this stage are super impersonal so try not to let them get to you because if you're doing it right you'll get lots of them (and even more next summer/fall).
