Not to be an ass to people still looking for their first offer, but is anyone with 2L SA offers considering jumping to K&E NY Corporate? They seem to be busy and a good firm but it's going to be really hard for me to accept given their personality reputation, especially without having experienced it and gotten a foothold as a summerAnonymous User wrote:NYC Corporate as late as last week.Anonymous User wrote:Is Kirkland currently doing interviews? I interviewed with a different office but had a very similar dilemma. I don't have an offer and only recently did my cb but I think I'd buck up and take it all the same in a lot of situations.Anonymous User wrote:Not to be an ass to people still looking for their first offer, but is anyone with 2L SA offers considering jumping to K&E NY Corporate? Are you told upfront that Skadden (or any firm for that matter) is not interviewing for M&A/did they tell you during the interview?

I took Paul Weiss corp over K&E corp for this very reason.Anonymous User wrote:Not to be an ass to people still looking for their first offer, but is anyone with 2L SA offers considering jumping to K&E NY Corporate? Thanks, that makes me feel better about being wary. Plus the main NY firms did not seem to take them seriously (whether that's fair or not is another question)Anonymous User wrote:I took Paul Weiss corp over K&E corp for this very reason.Anonymous User wrote:Not to be an ass to people still looking for their first offer, but is anyone with 2L SA offers considering jumping to K&E NY Corporate? Sull Crom and Cleary were both recently looking for Litigation. Sull Crom was not looking for corporate. Cleary not certain.

I know someone who finished an SA there and is going back and really liked the people (and he's a good guy), but I can't offer much more than that.Anonymous User wrote:Not to be an ass to people still looking for their first offer, but is anyone with 2L SA offers considering jumping to K&E NY Corporate? Re: 3L OCI
Corporate departments at top firms across new york are all overwhelmingly busy right now, so wherever you go at this level you will have a lot of work coming your way. K&E has a culture that seems to draw a certain type of person, and I'm sure some people thrive in the environment there, but if I am going to be buried in work, I'd rather be in a place where I know I am comfortable with the culture and don't have to worry about the dynamics of a culture I may not fit into well or just plain don't like. Like you, having not experienced it as a summer made me feel like I was taking a gamble vs. other firms that seem to have much more genteel--or at least less polarizing--reputations for culture.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks, that makes me feel better about being wary. Is directly contacting firms before 3L OCI something that generally works (like it can before 2L OCI)? I am not sure how I would be able to get a shot at firms who do not normally come to my school to recruit 3Ls (Skadden/SullCrom/STB).

Mass mail's the main game for 3L. I just attach resume, transcript, and cover letter to a brief email message to recruiting.Anonymous User wrote:Is directly contacting firms before 3L OCI something that generally works (like it can before 2L OCI)?
