I heard Gibson really lowered their class size. I think they only hired only two from USC last summer and fewer than usual from UCLA.
I know that GDC had about a 25 person summer class in their LA office this last summer, idk how that compares to previous summers. Recruiter said they are looking at a similar sized class this year.

No. Manatt's starting salary is $125,000
That sucks, so it is actually true that it looks like 125k (first year) ---> 165/170k (second year)

I still haven't heard anything from Paul Hastings on the USC side but I guess they must've gone out, if they're out for UCLA.

so pretty much the only firms with big class sizes (greater than 5) that are left w/o callbacks are Gibson Dunn, Jones Day and Pillsbury Winthrop? very very disheartening :(

I don't know about Paul Hastings LA, but the interviewer for OC/ SD said it would take a little while. He estimated sometime next week.

Do we know how many SAs Pillsbury is looking to take? They only had 5 last year.

I also think Alston falls into this category? I haven't heard of anyone getting a CB yet...

Paul Hastings OC has extended at least one CB at USC. No idea about SD office.

Just curious, what is PH LA's GPA/rank requirement for UCLA?

USC's requirement was 3.3 gpa. ucla should be the same. but that doesn't mean they callback that low.

Any word on Perkins, Alston, Goodwin, or Locke Lord?

Also, what was the callback window for Sidley? Interviews were Friday, was wondering the callback timeframe for other schools that were earlier in the week.

Here's activity - ding from proskauer ny. It wouldve been better if my interviewers actually acted like they were interested (if i went into more detail, would out myself). Great way to start the day...

What school? Can you pitch that you picked the best school with the best placement in California? Weak but it'll be tough if you never even been...

I heard on TLS going to law school in that area is enough ties, but honestly given my luck so far (east coaster who has actually been in la for a few summers), i'm not quite sure yet. all my movement has been in the east coast and not LA. interviewers have overall been VERY pushy. I have two good reasons, mention my time in LA, and they STILL want more. It's really disheartening since USC/UCLA is not very portable, yet even where it has hold, things are very skeptical. Although if I had 3.6+ grades this maybe wouldn't have been as much of a problem, although my grades should be good enough to not have much of a problem.

I had never lived in LA and I have had no problems at all. I bring up being advised to go where I wanted to practice and even mention other schools that I turned down. As long as your being honest, you should be fine. It's when you're trying to BS that you are going to have issues.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
