Is it true that you can only snag interviews on Saturday from firms that you bid but did not get? I am a little confused about the opt-in/open sign-up process

You can opt in for any you want. Doesn't matter if you bid them.Anonymous User wrote:Is it true that you can only snag interviews on Saturday from firms that you bid but did not get? I am a little confused about the opt-in/open sign-up process

I know OCI for below median kids is bleak...so there is a very real possibility to have 15 interviews and get 0 callbacks??

Obviously it depends on who you are interviewing with, but generally, yes. I strongly suggest mass-mailing like a mofo.Anonymous User wrote:I know OCI for below median kids is bleak...so there is a very real possibility to have 15 interviews and get 0 callbacks??

17 total, including most of my top 10. Also got screeners for my last two bids. Thinking about cancelling because I'll never get an offer from either.

Posting my hits and misses for future Duke students. My list is NYC-focused. Overall I'm pleased with the result because I managed to get a lot of really popular firms that are targets for me with the exception of Morgan Lewis.
If it's in bold, I got it. I clarified the city when bidding slots were divided by office.

22 screeners, 18 NY & 4 CA.
Still fairly confused about opt-in / waitlist / open sign-up. Will those who have opted in (on offices they'd already bid) take precedence over those who waitlist that office? For offices that still have open slots, will those slots automatically be filled by people who have waitlisted that office when open sign-up begins?

15 screeners. NYC. Slightly below median. How many callbacks should I expect? Rough estimate?
WE, been told I am a good interviewer if that means anything.

that's a sexy schedule, nice job. grades? I am starting to think I may have been too conservative, got 14 screeners bidding all new York and targeted firms that were in my strike zone (median). And whew, I moved Morgan Lewis from 8 to 7 like 10 mins before bid lists were due, probably stole your spotAnonymous User wrote:Posting my hits and misses for future Duke students. doesn't look too aggro, with a 3.5 you are in decent shape at all of those, cleary may be a bit of a reach but not ridiculous or anythingAnonymous User wrote:15 all in New York, missed Proskauer at 5 and Skadden at 8. Grades are estimated to be in the Top 20-25% range. I had a feeling I was gonna miss Morgan Lewis, and I will be trying to pick it up off the waitlist, but I don't think I can complain about my results overall.Anonymous User wrote:that's a sexy schedule, nice job. grades? I think it's on the aggressive side, but not crazy aggressive. A good interviewer, especially with some interesting work experience stands a shot at the upper end of that list, and a great shot at the bottom half.Anonymous User wrote:doesn't look too aggro, with a 3.5 you are in decent shape at all of those, cleary may be a bit of a reach but not ridiculous or anythingAnonymous User wrote:15 all in New York, missed Proskauer at 5 and Skadden at 8. Will many firms auto ding you if you're below median?
It seems to me that everyone is clumped in the 3.2-3.4 range as it should be. Do firms really care about the difference between a 3.22 and a 3.38?

Re: Duke OCI - Class of 2016 - Oooh Kill Em
^ Both people have to hustle and aren't in a position to be picky, but when everyone is clumped in the 3.2-3.4 range, the 3.22 is somewhere around bottom 30% and the 3.38 is somewhere around top 40%, meaning 30% of the class is between between them (these are all estimates, of course). So yea that's the difference between someone who's probably consistently towards the bottom in their classes versus someone who's generally around median, but more often above than below in their classes.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
