Put 2 new suits on my credit card today. Considering I just started a white collar job, I'm incredibly poor.

For any new DC biglaw associates making market salary, would you mind sharing your after tax takehome amount? I know the amount varies by city due to taxes, so I'm interested in DC. I'm trying to plan a budget. Thanks!

TheSeaLocust's Yesterday:

10:30 pm - leave firm; go to gym; squat
11:45 pm - "bill from home after dinner"
1:30 am - sleep
7:00 am - alarm; up; LAW

Logged in and replied because this describes how I feel post-Coffee#1 every morning.thesealocust wrote:LET'S PRACTICE LAW GOGOGOGOGOGOIAFG wrote:GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!
Very similar to the feeling I had when I used to mash keys and Zerg-think, "how fast can I get my overlord up & rush?"

It sounds so pleasant if you ignore (a) dinner eaten at the office (while working) and (b) that it began at 11:30 pmbeach_terror wrote:Glad I could make this a thing.thesealocust wrote: "bill from home after dinner"

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of work are you doing? Corporate finance, M&A, cap markets? I do M&A and I'm on a couple big deals, but my life hasn't been nearly as crazy (though I have juniors to delegate to... I'm pretty careful to avoid ruining their nights/weekends and I'm pretty sure they've been leaving at normal hours too).thesealocust wrote:It sounds so pleasant if you ignore (a) dinner eaten at the office (while working) and (b) that it began at 11:30 pmbeach_terror wrote:Glad I could make this a thing.thesealocust wrote: "bill from home after dinner"

I just had to call and beg my sister to cosign for an apartment for me because DC apartment buildings just do not understand people who have job offers but no paystubs yet. And the rent is going on my credit card until I get paid. I'm at a new financial low.
