Cook County ASA Class of 2013 Forum

Hello,

I know this is a group for those ASA's for the 2013 class, but I was curious if any of you guys could say around when you were selected to begin the interview process and if you could, post your stats from school.

Additionally, I was curious as to how many interviews out of staters get and if any of you guys currently are from out of state and what your incoming stats were as well. Currently I am at a T2 school in Los Angeles and want to move back to the northeast. I applied to Cook County to about 2 and a half weeks ago.

I did my initial interview in August, my second round interview in December, and my final round interview in February. I received a phone call for a position in May. I am from a tier 1 law school, out of state, and the top half of my class. I had a lot of public interest work and prosecutor externships and summer work.

If you go to an out-of-state school that the office doesn't recruit at, my understanding is that your 1st interview may be around the same time as everyone else's 2nd interview (December). But I'm in-state so maybe someone else can confirm.

Thanks guys. That does help...it seems then I may not hear back for a while, assuming I get a shot at an interview. I am top half at a T2 with work experience in prosecution and some firm experience. Really would like to be an ASA so hopefully i get correspondence on interviews soon.

Anyone receive word on third rounds yet? Seems like Cook County has a pretty structured and timelined process. They told me we would hear before the holidays, curious if others have any information on this

They told me that it would be late January/Early February. This timeline makes sense to me because my first round interview was in late September, and they called about scheduling round 2 in late November. It may depend on the school.

I got a call the other day asking me to come in for a third round. Mine is scheduled for the end of February.

Do you know if they call people in alphabetical order? Are you in or out of state?

No idea if they're calling alphabetically. I'd be high on the list alphabetically but I had a choice of just a couple times on two dates so they may have already scheduled a number of interviews. No idea how accurate that assumption is, of course.

I'm at an out-of-state law school.

The lady who called me to schedule my interview said there will probably be three interviewers. She didn't know about the content (I think she's support staff, not one of the ASAs).

When was everyone told they would hear back? Any idea of when it will actually happen? I believe they told me early April...

Website says by the end of April. However, based on this forum, it seems like most people last year didn't find out until closer to the end of May. I emailed them last week asking for a time table, but I didn't hear anything back from them yet.

They finally emailed me back and said, they "are anticipating notices to go out at the end of May."

did anyone have a 4th round interview? I saw something about a 4th round on another thread, but I don't think Cook does 4 interviews..

For whatever reason cook is doing fourth rounds this year. I have not heard back either way yet but a friend of mine got a call early this week asking her to come in for a fourth round.
