Re: 2012 3L Gov Honors Programs
Thanks for the DOT update.
I've had the same dinged feeling for a few days now.
It's better to know that your career is likely doomed to shitlaw and/or private practice than exist in limbo, I suppose.

Interview coming up with the Richmond Federal Reserve for their summer legal fellows program. OCS has no guidance on them, but it is paid. Does anyone know if they hire their summers on a permanent basis after?

Was the DOI ding an email or mail?
Also, FYI for anyone looking at USACE, I heard that last year they hired Honors Attorneys on an as-needed basis (my source was hired after passing the bar), not all at once. I think a lot depends on budget.

Re: 2012 3L Gov Honors Programs
The Federal Reserve Board does not, to my knowledge, have a traditional "Honors Program" for recent grads. The Fed's regulatory counterparts, the FDIC and the OCC, both do have such programs, and both have regularly hired Honors Attorneys from the pool of summer clerks. The unfortunately reality, though, is that being a summer clerk doesn't give you much of a leg up when they call 30 or so interviews for fewer than 10 spots (3, in the case of the FDIC) and 25 of those interviews were given to former summers. Most everyone is on the same footing at that point, and you're back to the standard litmus tests of institution, grades/coursework, and personality.LawIdiot86 wrote:Interview coming up with the Richmond Federal Reserve for their summer legal fellows program. The Fed is hiring lawyers right now, but all available positions look to have a minimum experience requirement of 2 years. OCC, which lost a lot of lawyers to the new CFPB, is thought to be making a good number of entry-level hires this year. Whether that'll carry over to next year - who knows.

Does anyone have an update on DOL offers? I interviewed with them a couple of weeks ago but have not heard anything since.

Agencies have been calling my references this week but have yet to call me...hoping this is the last step in the chain, but who knows how these places work
Anyone have any anecdotal evidence about timing from reference checks to offers?

I haven't heard anything either and I interviewed with them in October. I'm not sure if this is a good sign or a bad one, but we'll probably hear back sometime soon.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone have an update on DOL offers? I just called the woman who interviewed me for the DOL honors program, and she said that the committee is still deciding. They hope to have a decision by the end of the year (!), but it may not happen that quickly. So, at least for now we can keep on hoping

For those who have heard from HUD, how did you hear?
If you don't mind, could you share grades/schools, experience. I did some housing law both summers and an internship but have yet to hear anything.
