Nope, the whole SDNY decided to take a holiday from making calls, assuming that none of their favorite candidates would take Day 1/Day 2 interviews with EDNY or the Second Circuit. I mean seriously, every federal court, in America, has made at least some calls. Though I've found in calling my Philly list that a few judges there haven't made any calls yet. But just a few.Anonymous User wrote:any 3Ls hear from sdny judges?

How many judges do you call to see if they've made their decisions and what do you say when you call?Anonymous User wrote:Nope, the whole SDNY decided to take a holiday from making calls, assuming that none of their favorite candidates would take Day 1/Day 2 interviews with EDNY or the Second Circuit. She may be, but she didn't explicitly say so. On the whole though, there was a shocking amount of seeming flexibility. Only McLaughlin said flatly that her Thursday was full; the others, nearly a dozen of them, said they'd see. I would've thought that by 2, a lot of Thursdays would be full.Anonymous User wrote:Was Brody one of the few on the EDPA who hasn't called?

See above for the very helpful script I copied from GTL's thread. No one took it badly or weirdly at all.Anonymous User wrote:How many judges do you call to see if they've made their decisions and what do you say when you call?Anonymous User wrote:Nope, the whole SDNY decided to take a holiday from making calls, assuming that none of their favorite candidates would take Day 1/Day 2 interviews with EDNY or the Second Circuit. Anyone know about the Texas judges? Specifically Dallas and Houston?

People who STATED they hadn't called, to be clear, are Schiller, Joseph Rodriguez (out in Camden), and... Joyner was ambiguous; the assistant told me the judge wasn't in and would have to decide whether I'd get a call tomorrow. So perhaps he hasn't made calls.

Judge Fitzwater (N.D. Tex) contacted interviewees. Don't know about any others. Does anyone know about Houston D.Ct. judges?Anonymous User wrote:Anyone know about the Texas judges? Specifically Dallas and Houston?

Is it possible to parlay for interviews not in the same city but still far from where you're coming from? For example, if I have interviews in LA and am coming from the east coast, can I call San Francisco judges to try and get an interview?

So just say you're in the area. Of course I don't know how close those places are and it makes scheduling tough; it will devolve into this "oh but I'm only available from 4-6" thing. But yeah, worth trying.Anonymous User wrote:Is it possible to parlay for interviews not in the same city but still far from where you're coming from? Has anyone heard (or know of anyone that's heard) from Carney (2d), Van Antwerpen (3d), Vanaskie (3d), Clement (5th), Daughtrey (6th) or Barkett (11th)?

I applied to all but Barkett and heard from none. It's my suspicion, by the way, that Carney will be largely hiring from YLS.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard (or know of anyone that's heard) from Carney (2d), Van Antwerpen (3d), Vanaskie (3d), Clement (5th), Daughtrey (6th) or Barkett (11th)?

Email from Chagares (3d Cir., hiring for 2013): wants to know what I'm doing for 2012 once I find out.

Thanks. Do you have any other COA/D. Ct. interviews lined up? Just trying to see if I'm out of the running or if these calls just haven't been made yet. Figured there's no better place to ask than TLS.Anonymous User wrote:I applied to all but Barkett and heard from none. I did get a Bye interview offer very, very early. And yes, to the person who asked me above if I have any COA interviews, I have three, Bye included.Anonymous User wrote:what about 8th circuit? judges benton and bye in particular?

What's the protocol if you were told you were a "close call", but not offered an interview with your first choice COA judge? Would it be OK to call back and ask to interview anyway for 2013? Or should I assume they would have offered if that were an option?
