Re: Northwestern 2010 OCI Callbacks Thread
As the OP, I concur. I have tried to update the first page of this thread as soon as reliable information becomes available. While I have heard rumors / rumblings about a number of firms that are not listed, I have refrained from posting any such information until it can be accurately confirmed.Anonymous User wrote:just going to throw this out there, but i have to imagine that people who are going to update this thread will update it when they have more information. i doubt that asking if anyone has heard from a particular firm will be a fruitful request. i know we're all anxious as hell, but be patient.
Good luck to all ... now its time to turn these callbacks into offers!

For anyone who remains in limbo with a particular firm (i.e. callbacks and rejections have been reported, but you are still waiting), it is worth noting that firms do have "hold" lists ... so hope remains!

Re: Northwestern 2010 OCI Callbacks Thread
Got a sweet snail mail ding from Skadden CHI. Their decision not to call me back for further interviews was an extremely difficult one for them, fyi.
Pretty surprised since I thought my interview went really well (like one of my best of all of OCI) and I've been successful with almost all of my other 1st rounds, but I heard a rumor that they are maintaining a super strict grade cut off still this year of something ridiculously high like top 3%.

Also got the Skadden letter- as far as rejection letters go, it was pretty nice.
Unfortunately, that's the best thing that's happened for me so far. 3.78 gpa, looking in Chicago, and not a single callback so far. Am I seriously underperforming my gpa for whatever reason, or has OCI just been that anemic?

It really depends on the firms and cities you are looking in. Since you are limiting yourself to Chicago, I wouldn't say you were seriously underperforming. That being said, it really does depend on the firms.Anonymous User wrote:Also got the Skadden letter- as far as rejection letters go, it was pretty nice.

I didn't focus on Chicago, so I won't post how I've done as it won't help as a reference. All I can say is good luck and keep your spirits up. You have a good GPA, and a lot of firms either haven't called back, or they seem to have a reserve group that they aren't rejecting or calling back yet.

Have you started a mail campaign? What firms did you bid on? Have you done a practice interview with Career Services?Anonymous User wrote:Also got the Skadden letter- as far as rejection letters go, it was pretty nice.

With your GPA you should be sitting on at least several callbacks. If you still have interviews left, you gotta figure out what you're doing wrong and fix it.

Re: Northwestern 2010 OCI Callbacks Thread
i've got a comparable, but very slightly lower GPA and I only have one callback. only two outright dings though - both from firms i did not have a reasonably good shot on. i think my interview list was pretty aggressive, but i'm still very disappointed at a few firms that haven't gotten back to me yet. still, there's a lot of time, i think you just have to be patient.Anonymous User wrote:Also got the Skadden letter- as far as rejection letters go, it was pretty nice.

Re: Northwestern 2010 OCI Callbacks Thread
This is extremely frightening. I am at Michigan, but because I have 90% of my interviews in Chicago, this is a terrible, terrible sign. I didn't bid on NYC because of the lack of ties but I have a few that I could extrapolate on...looks like I will be hitting up those hospitality suites big time.Anonymous User wrote:Also got the Skadden letter- as far as rejection letters go, it was pretty nice.

Re: Northwestern 2010 OCI Callbacks Thread
Chicago remains a very difficult market to crack. The majority of my friends targeting Chicago only have a couple of callbacks (at best), while I have a friend with a GPA around ~3.7 who has 13 CBs already (most in NY).Anonymous User wrote:It really depends on the firms and cities you are looking in. Guys, if Skadden has a 3% cutoff, what does that mean? Our school doesn't rank us. Do you mean that the firm has a hard GPA cutoff? If so, what is it?

Even ITE, the top 3% sounds a litte too high. I do know that Skadden has extended CBs to people with GPAs in the high 3.8's (which is arguably well within the top 10%). Not sure if my post adds to the discussion though.Anonymous User wrote:Guys, if Skadden has a 3% cutoff, what does that mean? Our school doesn't rank us. Skadden Chicago took 9 summers this year (down from 33), but even then top 3% is a ridiculous cutoff. Especially for Skadden Chicago... If I were top 3% why would I want to work there?Anonymous User wrote:Got a sweet snail mail ding from Skadden CHI.
