Man, I must be a bad interviewer. 2 callbacks for 15 interviews.
Not at all. This is just another case of yield protection. MoFo clearly doesn't want to end up paying $$$$ to fly you out to SF only to have you turn them down for Wachtell.

Re: Yale FIP
Yea, when I have other callbacks from firms that indicated they actually liked me a lot, it is worse for the firm that says I'm essentially last in line for the people that they'd have working there at all.Anonymous User wrote:Dood, seriously? Slap in the face?
Do you really care if you were the last callback if it resuilts in an offer?

Complete radio silence. They're the only firm left on my list that seems to have given neither rejections nor callbacks.Anonymous User wrote:Fenwick news?

Re: Yale FIP
I've been to two cbs, both of which have actually seemed less intense to me that screening interviews. Maybe it's because I was asking mostly about specific practice areas and about recent work that the interviewers had done, so they talked a lot more and I didn't have to wrack my brain for questions.Anonymous User wrote:has anyone on here been to a cb yet? similar to screening interviews in terms of questions or more intense?

More selling of the firm seemed to go on, too. Only one guy really grilled me on what the heck I was doing as a law student/why I wanted to work for a large firm. All in all, not as scary as I had anticipated:)
Good luck tomorrow!

Re: Yale FIP
It's been exhausting, man! Although I feel they've gone well, I felt like I had to be up all the time, even during lunch. 3 CB interviews last week, 3 more this week. They seemed more interested in getting you acquainted with the firm so be on the offense about it. But as long as you're being yourself and show interest and enthusiasm while maintaining a professional demeanor, you should be fine.Anonymous User wrote:has anyone on here been to a cb yet? similar to screening interviews in terms of questions or more intense?

Re: Yale FIP
i've had several very different experiences. in one, it was basically just like the screening interviews - start out with questions about my resume, then move into my own questions, with maybe a slightly stronger focus on the latter than at fip. in another, each interviewer started with "so what can i tell you?" brutal - i had to come up with half an hour's worth of questions, and they weren't really cooperating and talking at length. in my last one, i had several, basically, conversations. i had to come up with stuff to talk about, but it wasn't tough since we were just chatting about my background, their work, etc. so i'd say come prepared with (substantive) questions, but be ready for anything. and i think the longer the interview remains just a conversation between two people, the better off you are.Anonymous User wrote:has anyone on here been to a cb yet? similar to screening interviews in terms of questions or more intense?

one thing i've noticed is that i'm getting more pushback on why (really, whether) i actually want to work at a firm than i did at fip. and maybe a little more about practice areas i'm interested in, or why this firm specifically, but i got a bunch of that at fip too.
there doesn't appear to be any pattern behind this - i've done cbs at smaller litigation places, monster dc firms, and your typical generalist place, and it doesn't seem like any one type of firm does any one type of interview.

When did you go on your Paul Weiss CB and when did they call (approximately), if you don't mind?

Thursday and the call was sometimes after lunch yesterday.Anonymous User wrote:When did you go on your Paul Weiss CB and when did they call (approximately), if you don't mind?
Yep, during the last interview of the day. I think you'll be fine. My Cravath CB isn't until mid-September but I'm sure there'll still be open slots then. I think S&C and Cravath are very picky who they call because they felt good enough about you at the FIP to want to make an offer on the spot as long as you don't go postal and shoot people.Anonymous User wrote: did you get your s&c offer on the spot? my cb is not until next week - hope i didn't wait too long to schedule!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
