@kk don't worry, they've seen worse
my first few interviews i choked when questioned aggressively
one senior associate was interviewing me and i gave a shitty answer, and he was like, 'ok in the future i wouldn't say that'
bit of a learning curve, 90% of us will make asses out of ourselves at least once during recruiting

so general q
cancelling a callback the day of, obviously bad form
but i'm expecting a decision from my top choice soon, quite possibly on the same day as a cb with a firm i'm not so crazy about
if that happens, (a) do the cb so i don't piss people off and burn a bridge, or (b) don't do the cb and save everyone's time

Just to be clear, you don't have an offer in hand you would take over the firm you have a CB with, yes?

If yes, do the CB

i'm saying i'm not sure what to do if i get the offer i want shortly before the cb
i followed up with the firm today and they said i'd know in the next day or two, and my cb is thurs afternoon
so idk what to do if i get the offer just before the cb

I think it's fine to cancel the CB when and if you get the offer

If you get the offer while walking into the other CB or like an hour before or something, I'd probably just do the CB because canceling super last minute might be NAGL

I wouldn't count chickens, I'd just plan on doing the CB

If it makes you feel better, maybe give yourself a 24 deadline. If you don't get the offer more than 24 hours in advance, then do the CB.

No screener. CB to offer was 5 days, but I had another pending offer which probably pushed them to make the offer fast.

Received an offer to work in LA...however I have some concerns.
I'm at B/S, my ties are all in southern CA and my goal is big law CA (prefer LA over SF).
Will taking a job in LA this summer make it more difficult to get job in SF/PA come OCI? I'm worried Bay area employers will think I'm too LA. I would take a job in the Bay this summer but I can't afford to live near SF during the summer.

If you prefer LA over SF, then take the job in LA. LA firms are very picky about ties. I'm from the East Coast but went to school in CA, and was asked in every single screener and callback why I want to work in LA. Plenty of LA firms/offices recruit at B/S, so I wouldn't worry too much about how SF firms perceive you if you're truly looking to work in LA.

Also, if you strike out completely in the entire state then I highly doubt summering in SF would have saved you.

You prefer LA, so work in LA.
