Forget NALP. It's against human decency. If you're holding that many just to stroke your ego, you're entering into asshole territory. If your inability to make a decision among so many, maybe you shouldn't be a lawyer. Improving market or not, there are still people suffering here.

Seems like an exaggeration out of frustration.

I think the opposite: if you want your firms to abide by NALP guidelines, certainly you yourself should be doing the same. It's the hypocrisy of expecting a firm to give you 28 days while also holding open more than 5 offers that bothers me.
I highly doubt anyone is holding offers open for their ego (after all, you have the offer, that's the ego boost right there. In some ways turning it down can be a bigger ego-stroke than holding it open). And if you are undecided among so many it's evidence that you have never done this before and don't have the frame of reference to make a decision. Obviously, you should get over this and make decisions, and I doubt it has any bearing on your future competency as a lawyer, but in my mind it is especially important to do so within NALP guidelines.

Nobody should be breaking NALP rules but I'm just curious - are your law school friends who upload pictures of them and their families outside of Chicago assholes too? HOW DARE THEY INSTAGRAM PHOTOS OF NYC/SF/LA/DC - IMPROVING MARKET OR NOT, THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE SUFFERING HERE.

... you're entering into asshole territory.
And you just figured this out now? (The legal culture 'territory' is chock-full of a-holes.)

Declined an offer from Goodwin (was hard to do because they are such a warm/pleasant firm); good luck if you're waiting on them.

Man, that is dangerously small class begging for a no-offer at the end of the summer.

To the contrary the class is small so they know they have a spot for everyone at the end of the summer.

So we pray. Look at this past summer's thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... start=1475
Lesson is that when it comes to SA class sizes, the bigger the better.
