I wasn't familiar with them or the NRA story you mentioned so I Googled and found this news page on their official website. First item is interesting. https://www.brewerattorneys.com/newsExpOriental wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 4:36 pmAren't those the sketchy fuckers who filed the fraudulent NRA bankruptcy? Are you joking? Where I live my wife and I are the only gay conservatives in a sea of blue haired lesbians. If there are other lesbian conservatives in Big Law we need to start a club. What’s the deal with Brewer? A quick scan through their attorney profiles suggests that these guys aren’t all stars. I’m not saying that to belittle or be elitist, obviously they hire excellent candidates, but looking through the attorney profiles is different than looking at other, highly ranked boutiques that pay on the Milbank scale. Does anyone know if they compress on the upper end? Any chance this will put any pressure on the V10?cfcm wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 4:50 pmI wasn't familiar with them or the NRA story you mentioned so I Googled and found this news page on their official website. I’ve actually asked several partners and those in the know at my V5 in casual conversations and the answers have just been “eh, we don’t consider Milbank a peer.”

I agree that Milbank and your V5 are not peers — Milbank is significantly better and more elite than your firm.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 5:41 pmI’ve actually asked several partners and those in the know at my V5 in casual conversations and the answers have just been “eh, we don’t consider Milbank a peer.”

Let's be honest, it's a little easier to shine as a conservative lawyer because our industry tilts liberal. If they are a boutique known for representing the NRA, their options are going to be more limited than most.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 5:35 pmWhat’s the deal with Brewer? So where are all the posters from page 1 or 2 of this thread who were so condescending and confident that the raises would be coming any day now and that the rest of us were being stupid to be anxious about them? Looks like a decent chance they won't actually happen across the board now...

Market middle-bucket bonus for banking associates fresh out of MBA was over $200K in 2021. Bringing their total compensation to $350K+ for 2021. I have confirmed this number. IB associates fresh out of B-school are about as useless as biglaw juniors, so I do feel we are all entitled to a raise.
Of course, IB has always paid a bit more than Biglaw, but the gentleman's gap has now become a comical chasm.

That's amazing. Ask the partner how deeply his head is up his ass that he doesn't feel the need to match a salary scale that's already been adopted by Milbank, Cadwalader, McDermott, Fried Frank, Goodwin, Irell, Baker, Wilmer, DLA, Winston, and Cooley.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 5:41 pmI’ve actually asked several partners and those in the know at my V5 in casual conversations and the answers have just been “eh, we don’t consider Milbank a peer.”

At this point, this is becoming offensive. The vaunted "V10," which feels it has the prerogative to work its associates to the bone, doesn't seem to have the wherewithal to get its act together and bring its attorneys to market-compensation when so many "lesser" *firms in the V50 have all seemingly woken up and gotten off their collective asses.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
