San Francisco? Neither have I.
I interviewed with SF two weeks ago and just got dinged yesterday. If you interviewed earlier than that maybe you're in hold?
Was it a snail mail rejection or email?

Skadden NY CB this week. My first interview, the partner (CCN grad) straight up says "We don't see many... Northwestern... people in this office."

Later interview with an associate (HYS grad), "As a Northwestern student, what makes you think you'd be able to handle the academic challenge of working at Skadden?"

Yeah... just waiting for that ding.

I think both of those were pretty easily dealt with. Just don't take the bait and talk about how we are half the size of the NY schools and send a smaller percent to NYC, and just answer the hys guy like you didn't think he was implying we were proletards by just talking up how your professors challenged you etc.

I don't understand, there's an academic component of working there? Does the Rule Against Perpetuities come up a lot in Skadden cases or something?

Interviewed with all the "selective" NYC firms (v5) and never once ran into this kind of issue. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that - bad luck on the draw, I guess.

It is surprising how small our alumni network is at top nyc firms though . . . and I wonder if the lack of alumni support at each firm makes a material difference (does having more NU alum around at KE Chicago have a ton of benefits for a NU-alum 1st year that a NU-alum 1st year at Skadden NYC won't have??).

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
