I’m most upset about the December 30 payout tbh. I was planning to tell people on the 16th that I was gone.
This is exactly right.

Honestly these bonuses are pretty great in light of the huge special bonuses we have already had this year. A sixth year is pulling down $185k in 2021 bonus comp. Hard to complain about that.

Counterpoint, as someone starting in-house mid-January this is ideal timing. Removes FOMO of special retention bonus.

Now we all get to wait and watch our firms (presumably very quickly given the timing) match.

But I'm sure the floodgates won't open until Milbank or STB speaks.

yeah, OBVIOUSLY we deserve and should get more; but special bonus through the year, year end bonus, and this weird "special" addition to cover a reversion next year, is pretty solid.

Did DPW calculate their numbers just to give 2018 grads 69k? Nice.
As this anonymous account is Neil Barr and definitely not not Neil Barr, the answer to your question is yes. Most emphatically yes. This is coming from Neil Barr. There is no reason to doubt that this anonymous account on the internet is Neil barr and Davis Polk gave 2018 grads 69k (nice) because it's funny.

Just so everyone has the scale in mind this is how we went (not counting the several mid-year bonuses paid out in the last two years):

First number is 2020, second is 2021 CSM and third is 2021 DPW

First Year
$15,000------->$20,000------->$24,000

Second Year
$25,000------->$30,000------->$36,000

Third Year
$50,000------->$57,500------->$69,000

Fourth Year
$65,000------->$75,000------->$90,000

Fifth Year
$80,000------->$90,000------->$108,000

Sixth Year
$90,000------->$105,000------->$126,000

Seventh Year+
$100,000------->$115,000------->$138,000

On average, CSM went about 15% over 2020 scale. On average DPW went about 40% over 2020 scale.

EDIT: Formatting
You need to add the 2020 special bonuses to the first column. That's the proper comparison if we're talking about EOY comp.

Is it a match or more than a match? What's the special bonus column?

What does this mean? A match is a match. It’s the exact same as DPW.

I think he's asking if they phrased the extra money over the Cravath bonuses as "special bonuses."

Did DPW's match include the 15-115K scale and a bonus column of 4-23K?

So class of 2017 gets 90K? I never noticed the second column on these scales.

DPDubs! Not quite the shattering bonus I was hoping for, but that's nice. I wouldn't be surprised if Milkbank raises it $5-10k just to throw back to them what they've done for so many years.

Well DPW is the first firm to announce the second column, which has been basically the topic of the past 51 pages of this thread...

Okay. But answer my question. Class of 2017 gets 90K!?!?!?!

EDIT: NVM. I have the answer. Also, DPW's announcement came on page 51, the one page of the thread I didn't read until now when PW announced and that PW announcement post landed on page 52. So I started there.

Chill out. You find your class year. You add column 1 with column 2. That's your bonus (assuming you hit hours).

Are we ever happy? I'll get a slightly higher dopamine hit for slightly longer when it hits the bank account but that's it. I guess I'll buy that Apple Watch series 7 now instead of going for the SE.

I am happy with this. Only thing missing is an announcement of special bonuses in the spring, but oh well.

Same anon here, I unfortunately didn't receive any 2020 special bonuses so I don't know much about them. Did they get paid with EOY bonus typically?

I feel like if I add those, I'll have to add the Fall bonus to 2021, then add the spring/summer bonus to 2021? I can easily do it but it kind of loses its point to pick and choose. I know people were debating this earlier but I don't know where the classifications landed

I wish it was built into the bonus so we could get a higher total (for those of us getting a multiple)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
