*Exception - I've known my school's career services office (T14) to reach out for feedback on a particular person for various reasons (unexpected underperformance). But I agree with the general rule that the candidate should not do this on their own.Anonymous User wrote:Good to know.Anonymous User wrote:No - never do this. If it's a real interview for a real job, It's not appropriate. Thats what mock interviews are for.Anonymous User wrote:Hmm, I'd ask this in another thread, lol. Not sure a bunch of 1Ls would be able to answer that. Or maybe ask career services? Good question though. In my (1L, and thus, relatively unimportant) opinion, I think it would make you look good - I imagine the associates/partners would be impressed that you wanted feedback.Anonymous User wrote:Is it normal/not awkward to ask for feedback at the end of a callback from associates and partners who interview you?
Personally, I'd ask the recruiter. I wouldn't contact partners because they're busy and might get annoyed. Just my 2 cents.

I am in a similar situation... I think you should consider taking advantage of these opportunities. I had a screener for a firm in a secondary market I had zero ties to, and they invited me to a callback less than an hour later and flew me halfway across the country the next week. Diverse, but certainly not URM.Anonymous User wrote:I am t14 + high grades. Just surprised considering how insular some of these markets are known to be.Anonymous User wrote:Are you T14/high grades? Not at all. But I did explain it many times at callback. But of course, I still don't have an offer in hand, so who knows what'll happen.Anonymous User wrote:Did you mention in your cover letter why you wanted to work in that market, etc?Anonymous User wrote:I am in a similar situation... Hmph. Dying to hear back from my CB. I know I probably won't get it bc it's so competitive to get a 1L SA, but it's just such an awesome opportunity... Anyone else feeling similarly?

Re: 1L diversity summer associate positions
I'm starting to get nervous about hearing from firms after callbacks. I applied to about 15 different places. Got email rejections from Cooley (SF) and BuckleySandler (LA), had callbacks at 3 firms on 1/19 and 1/23. If i don't hear back by today I'm assuming rejections from all 3.

Re: 1L diversity summer associate positions
Had secondary market CB two weeks ago, decided to send an email to recruiting just to see if a decision had been made. Probably a Hail Mary, but do what you gotta do.
