Surprisingly, no. I've been getting requests from random places that I have zero connection to like Atlanta, Florida, Minnesota, etc. Contemplating whether it's worth my time to do these screeners.
Are you T14/high grades? If so, maybe they're trying to attract talent. Plus, these are diversity positions, so maybe they're trying to reach out beyond their market?
I am t14 + high grades. Just surprised considering how insular some of these markets are known to be.

Yes, it's the Pro Bono Scholars Program - T14 - Above median
Congrats. Do you have strong ties to the the city that you applied for?
Not really but I think it's a mix of good grades and WE

Hmm, I'd ask this in another thread, lol. Not sure a bunch of 1Ls would be able to answer that. Or maybe ask career services? Good question though. In my (1L, and thus, relatively unimportant) opinion, I think it would make you look good - I imagine the associates/partners would be impressed that you wanted feedback.

Personally, I'd ask the recruiter. I wouldn't contact partners because they're busy and might get annoyed. Just my 2 cents.
No - never do this. If it's a real interview for a real job, It's not appropriate. Thats what mock interviews are for.
Good to know.
*Exception - I've known my school's career services office (T14) to reach out for feedback on a particular person for various reasons (unexpected underperformance). But I agree with the general rule that the candidate should not do this on their own.

I am in a similar situation... I think you should consider taking advantage of these opportunities. I had a screener for a firm in a secondary market I had zero ties to, and they invited me to a callback less than an hour later and flew me halfway across the country the next week. Diverse, but certainly not URM.

Did you mention in your cover letter why you wanted to work in that market, etc?

Not at all. But I did explain it many times at callback. But of course, I still don't have an offer in hand, so who knows what'll happen.

Hmph. Dying to hear back from my CB. I know I probably won't get it bc it's so competitive to get a 1L SA, but it's just such an awesome opportunity... Anyone else feeling similarly?

I'm starting to get nervous about hearing from firms after callbacks. I applied to about 15 different places. Got email rejections from Cooley (SF) and BuckleySandler (LA), had callbacks at 3 firms on 1/19 and 1/23. If i don't hear back by today I'm assuming rejections from all 3.

Had secondary market CB two weeks ago, decided to send an email to recruiting just to see if a decision had been made. Probably a Hail Mary, but do what you gotta do.

No that's me. It was an offer from Weil NY and a CB for Latham DC/NY, sorry it was confusingly worded.
