Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
I emailed a biglaw partner after a reception, and I got invited to do a "screener" interview. However, it seems like I will be meeting with 2 or more attorneys and it will take 1-2 hours. Is this typical of a screener interview?

Not in my experience - what you've described sounds like a cross between a callback and a screener. Screeners usually last 20 mins and are usually with one associate.Anonymous User wrote:yesAnonymous User wrote:I emailed a biglaw partner after a reception, and I got invited to do a "screener" interview. I was going to say, an interview over 30 minutes is not a "screener," but I'm a little skeptical you're getting the right read on this interview given that 1-2 people don't take out two hours of their day to interview a single candidate.Anonymous User wrote:Not in my experience - what you've described sounds like a cross between a callback and a screener. The poster you're quoting said 1-2 hours with 2 or more attorneys. Which could easily mean 30 mins each for two attorneys, or 20-30 minutes for more than two attorneys. Which is possible.Anonymous User wrote:I was going to say, an interview over 30 minutes is not a "screener," but I'm a little skeptical you're getting the right read on this interview given that 1-2 people don't take out two hours of their day to interview a single candidate.Anonymous User wrote:Not in my experience - what you've described sounds like a cross between a callback and a screener. "yes" anon, I suppose it may not be super frequent but I've had two of these that are an hour long, 30 mins with partner then 30 mins with associate. Outside of OCI I assumed firms just don't do the typical screener format.Anonymous User wrote:The poster you're quoting said 1-2 hours with 2 or more attorneys. Hogan callback + Willkie screener (that seems more of a screener/callback hybrid). If anyone has experience with a screener at Willkie, I'd appreciate any tips.

I have a pre-oci call back ( no screener) at Davis Polk in NYC. Top 10 at a tier 2.tmmich88 wrote:Anyone have pre-OCI at Paul Weiss NY, Davis NY and Proskauer NY? Totally lost on how to handle this process, figure out what to do and how to prep for interviews.
What do you mean you aren't sure what to do? I think prepping for interviews would mostly be just researching the firm. DPW doesn't tell you who you will be interviewing with ahead of time

Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
So do other schools not have as strict a rule about pre-OCI stuff than Penn or is them saying wait for OCI sort of a soft-ding?
I have some really positive (but brief) responses to MM from 2 firms that are doing CBs (and I think some offers) that boiled down to "if you can't see us at OCI re-reach out." Most of the firms that respond positively say something like "Penn's rules dictate . . ."
