Used to be a solid NYC hater, but I've softened. I've just met too many otherwise sane, normal people who are totally energized by all the stuff I find exhausting and annoying. It's just a matter of taste: loving or hating NYC isn't a referendum on your personality one way or the other.

Bruh, that's what rooftop terraces are for.whysoseriousbiglaw wrote:Having lived in NYC for a few years (not a native though), I can't see why anyone who isn't from here would want to live here long term unless you had like 20 million in the bank. Even with tons of money, I'd want more space, land, and nature....there's pretty much none of that here. Plus, the geography is far from pretty.

Re: Already hating NYC
I lived a mile from Prospect Park in the most gorgeous tree-lined neighborhood (just moved for law school). The boy is half a block from Central Park in the most quiet, beautiful UWS area that almost makes me think I might be willing to move to Manhattan someday. My rent was laughably low. His is a bit higher, but beyond doable on a Big Law salary.whysoseriousbiglaw wrote:Having lived in NYC for a few years (not a native though), I can't see why anyone who isn't from here would want to live here long term unless you had like 20 million in the bank. There's nature. And spacious apartments.
I think if the OP hops on the train and explores a bit, he'll find a few places to love.

which of my posts are you referring to? the one where I said NYC is awesome or the one where I called that guy a douchebag?smallfirmassociate wrote:See: Kratos' posts.dixiecupdrinking wrote:I don't think you know what "passive-aggressive" means.smallfirmassociate wrote:In their defense, they maintain that unique blend of smug NYC passive-aggressiveness and general insufferability that separates them from Minnesotans.bruinfan10 wrote:wow, the new yorkers itt are texas/minnesota level defensive homers.
I'm just poking the hive, comparing New Yorkers to insecure jingoist rednecks and calling them passive aggressive. Obviously not traits normally associated with denizens of the big apple (that's the joke), but on full display in this strange thread for some reason.

Exactly. You know which ones, which is why you didn't name them above. If you're "only" passive-aggressive half the time, you're passive aggressive.Kratos wrote:which of my posts are you referring to? the one where I said NYC is awesome or the one where I called that guy a douchebag?

There's supposed to be an express bus that takes you downtown in 20 minutes. I've never lived there, but I heard this from someday at my summer firm .PennBull wrote:yeah this is a great place to live if you don't have to commute to and from a biglaw job every fucking dayClearly wrote:bay ridge Brooklyn
