Writing sample Q: I used my case note, because my appellate brief would've gotten me zero interviews, for OTIP, and every firm that requested a writing sample gave me a pre-select spot except a mid-size firm.

Is there anything to be gleaned from the fluctuation in estimated 2L slots? If a firm you bid on still has remaining slots does that mean you got that firm for sure?

It looks to make sense for some firms, like Williams and Connolly having some extra slots, but Symplicity is also showing Latham with tons of open slots. I can't imagine that being that case, but I guess we'll see.

if you look on symplicity right now, many (if not most) of the firms now have zero "estimated 2l slots." that would suggest their schedules have been filled with people who bid the firm. some firms, though, have slots remaining. that would suggest that those firms have not filled their interview list, which - if true - would necessarily mean that everyone that submitted a bid for that firm got an interview slot.

not really sure what dlj has to do with anything.

I have one callback set up through mailing my home regional market and will hopefully hear back from others this week.

I feel like you have to just make connections and work them. Partners and associates at firms that are in some way connected to you- Duke, undergrad school, etc.- are usually very responsive and more than willing to talk about their experience at the firm and their practice. Sometimes, they ask for your resume; sometimes, they don't.

I've been doing this, but no luck speeding up the interviewing process.

Don't sweat it. This thread made me nervous last year when I saw what seemed to be everyone getting pre-oci callbacks while I had none, but most of the class is not getting callbacks yet.

23 screeners dropped one because it was back-to-back with my #1 choice, so down to 22.

You don't need to (and shouldn't) drop back to back interviews. There's apparently a protocol for consecutive interviews that everyone's aware of. I have 3 interviews in a row, which blows, but I'm trying to get all the screeners I can
