don't do it for screeners, unless you have a really compelling reason to. Might come off as desperate or annoying at that level of the process.
A lot of people say it's not worth it for callbacks, but I think that, so long as you proofread it well, thanking the partners/counsel you met with, or an associate you really bonded with, is the right thing to do, though it's probably not going to make a difference. This has been argued at length on this forum though, so let's not do it here.
Yeah, I won't throw down about this so this is all I will say:
My natural inclination is that Thank Yous are a nice gesture. But, pretty much the only people I have heard from who are in favor of Thank Yous on this forum are other law students. I have never see a practicing big lawyer say that you should write them IIRC. I have, however, seen at least two express annoyance at receiving them and/or saying it's all downside (if you have a typo, address it to the wrong person, etc.)
That's why I say don't bother
(also I didn't send any after CBs in the TX market and I converted 100% of my CBs so yay anecdotes)
