Lol. West coast. Did anyone else get contacted by a regional office on the west coast as well? It sounded like they were just starting to look at applications.Anonymous User wrote:Is the city on the west coast, east coast, or in the midwest?Anonymous User wrote:Yes, and in a region that I have strong ties to.Anonymous User wrote:Out of curiousity was it an office that you listed as being of interest to you?

Have any of you guys had second round interviews with OCIE? If so, what kind of questions did they ask?

Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
FYI: from what what I heard, if you are being considered by more than one division, they do try to coordinate your in office interview to make it on the same date so you won't have to make several trips down there. So that maybe a factor on when you get called in for in office interview.

Also, from what I was told, the divisions want to avoid giving out multiple offers to individuals, which means the hiring chairs from each division will probably sit down to discuss candidates before extending any offers.

Also, I was told that for DC they are looking to hire 2 for Corp. Fin. and 3 or 4 for Enforcement. I know Corp. Fin interviewed over the phone and did not require or allow requests for an in-person interview.

How much of a feeder for this program is the SEC Student Honors Program? Will interning there for my 2L summer give me anything close to a guaranteed job (like the typical biglaw model)?

Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
This is the first year they've had this Chair's Honors Program program so I doubt anyone is going to give you a good answer. However, in the past, a few interns (far from all, and less than 50%) from the 2L program got offers for full time jobs and this often did not depend as much on performance as it did on what divisions happened to get funding. It's not even close to the certainty of a big law summer program. In fact, I don't think there's any fed gov summer programs at all that expect to give 100% or close to that offers.Anonymous User wrote:How much of a feeder for this program is the SEC Student Honors Program? What's the longest people have waited in between interviews? I haven't heard anything for 3 weeks since my initial interview. I'm wondering what went wrong.

Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
Has anyone received any sort of update from any of the departments since thanks giving? I am still waiting to hear back for more than 3 weeks to set up a phone interview after a post screen call. I am not sure what to make of it. I like to think its a scheduling thing and not necessarily a reflection of whether I am still in the running or not, but I am starting to have doubts.

I know someone who actually had all 3 interviews (including in person) completed as of the week before Thanksgiving (i.e. last interview was that week).

Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
I've had two interviews before Thanksgiving and a third one scheduled in a few weeks. Heard back very quickly after the second to schedule the third and the delay between the second and third is due to my scheduling issues--SEC wanted it sooner. Never had a pre-screening interview. I just heard directly from the division.

I can confirm that one of the divisions has extended offers. A close friend of mine received one.

Thanks for updating us. Two quick questions: (1) what division? and (2) was it an official offer or an unofficial offer to be confirmed down the road?Anonymous User wrote:I can confirm that one of the divisions has extended offers. A close friend of mine received one.

What are his/her stats? Vet? Clerk?
Anyone know what the exit options are like from the SEC? Assuming someone is leaving the IM/CorpFin side of things after four to five years?

I think it was an official offer. I was contacted as a reference and it looks like they are starting the HR process.

I was told the exact opposite. The divisions are doing everything independently and offers to more than one are possible.Anonymous User wrote:Can anyone confirm this?Anonymous User wrote:Also, from what I was told, the divisions want to avoid giving out multiple offers to individuals, which means the hiring chairs from each division will probably sit down to discuss candidates before extending any offers.

Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
"The Chair's Attorney Honors Program appointments for Attorneys are two-year long developmental appointments. After successful completion of the program participants may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances a term appointment lasting 1-4 years)."
Are these positions actually only for two years? Or will it be easy to become full time?
