Ouch. Similar grades, school, and ties, but aiming for Houston. Complete silence so far.
Has anyone gotten interviews from mass mailing yet?

Had a phone screener with a Houston firm yesterday, and one in Dallas, but I'm still waiting to hear back for scheduling on that one.

HYSCCN, 2 callbacks and 1 screener so far. Sent out 50-75 applications to Houston, Dallas, Austin
ETA: Do Texas firms give out offers before they go on campus to interview at schools? If so, what is a typical timeframe post-cb for Texas in particular?

Did anyone at UT pick up extra interviews this round? I didn't.

When did you apply? And how did they reject you. I'm at MVP below median... I guess I should start waiting for my rejection.

I wouldn't worry but I would probably get your mass mailings out sooner than later.
I applied this Monday/Tuesday so there's a lot of waiting to do. About 40 emails going to about 25-30 different firms.

Any UTers have any sense of when TX firms schedule callbacks? We don't have a callback week so wondering if you guys know when they do them based on talking to upperclassmen or even research on here. Do they ever expect us to blow off the second week of OCI?
Feel free to PM or anon reply or whatevs

The vibe I got last fall from my mentor/other 2Ls was that you just do what you can to not fall hilariously behind in class...I think that's kind of when the CBs happen.
I didn't get extra interviews (couldn't - why only 25 allowed?? lol) though it seems like I was added as an alternate at a few more places, though I haven't done a real thorough check. Looks like I know who to mass mail!

Oh for sure, class is on the back burner.
I just seem to remember reading somewhere (maybe the long thread that was from a couple years ago?) that a TX firm scheduled all their callbacks on the same day. I'm just wondering when I should be prepared to schedule some of these things (if I get them, of course). Could get especially tricky for people that might get callbacks out of state and thus have to carve out 2 or 3 days in the mad rush.
Or maybe not everything has to be done by the end of August and firms schedule them into September? I guess maybe that's what I was asking.

I remember having a cb during the second week of OCI; I think I ended up cancelling an interview I didn't want so I could go. I also had one in September if memory serves. Some firms will have set dates that you will have to pick from.

Generally CBs go into September. Very few conflict with week 2 of OCI. They almost all conflict with class. If your choice is skipping class or going to a CB later in the day, I recommend skipping class for the earlier CB (especially if it means lunch).

Agreed. The answer is always to skip class for a cb.

When do people typically decline their excess interviews? I as well am sitting on several alternatives but didn't get any today after first decline period. Do you do not typically get many alternative spots?

I cancelled around 10 interviews during the first wave of cancellations so I assume some people received those this round. However, everyone I have talked to says they didn't pick up any interviews in the second wave. So I don't really know how it works.

Are the interviewers listed for anyone for the Big 3 firms? If not, anyone know the policy about emailing them to find out who will be coming?
Also, anyone hear anything about how receptive particular firms are to interviewees being a lotto vs. a preselect candidate?
I picked up two more interviews after the cancellation period, but both were lotto.

1. Don't do that. That info is highly likely to change. Plus you can find out the evening before on campus, and even then it's likely to change.
2. Lots of people have their best interviews on (and get their best CBs from) lottery. A lot of times the interviewer doesn't know which you were because they didn't do the resume screening/pre-selecting.

I know of CBs at Willkie, Dechert, Debevoise, and Cahill. I'd really like to know about Milbank as well, also Paul Weiss.

So true, I got an offer from a lottery and I know lots of others who did also

Anyone heard from other firms? Thought my SullCrom screener went really well, but they were interviewing everyone so probably a longshot.
