I'm confused, how have you heard back from them but don't know if you have an interview? Don't you just get an email then go on Symplicity and accept/see that you have alternate status.Anonymous User wrote:Yes. If you sort by "with invitations" it will show you a list of firms that have extended you an interview invitation or have you on their list of alternates.

Only works when the invitations column is open, so you can't do it for Texas or new England yet. Also, firms that haven't submitted picks won't show up yet.Anonymous User wrote:Awesome, that's a handy trick that I had not discovered.Anonymous User wrote:If you sort by "with invitations" it will show you a list of firms that have extended you an interview invitation or have you on their list of alternates.

Partly because a few people know who I am on here and I would prefer not to out myself. I'll just say I have great insights into the firm through these people. It's no trouble-- just offering to help.Anonymous User wrote:You haven't revealed anything sensitive that I can tell. Why not just post and I'll PM you?Anonymous User wrote:

Re: WUSTL OCI/EIW 2014
I really hope 0Ls read this thread and think long and hard about coming to WashU. It seems that if you are not in the top 20% (maybe 25%) you're going to have to do all the work on landing a firm job on your own. Off-campus and EIW will be of little to no benefit to you.
It's really the double-edged sword of 100% preselects. The people at the top will get tons and tons of screeners, and the only slightly less desirable candidates are left to hustle. That, and the randomness in grades (I'm talking being top third versus top 15-20%), makes it a scary place to be.
On the bright side it looks like there are still a bunch of firms that haven't released interviews yet. Between that and the off-campus interviews that haven't gone out yet, hopefully people see more rolling in.
Let this be a warning to incoming and future wustlers. Good luck everybody.

I think the SEMW/ Midwest Cali threads were more telling, no one's posted stats or anything in this thread, just which firms are out.

i think we should wait to see how things actually pan out before warning 0L's. not getting a certain number of screeners from EIW/Off-Campus days is certainly not a great position to be in, but it's too early to categorically say that you're screwed if you're outside the top 20% or something

Agreed. Those threads are more telling. But from the friends I've spoken to, it's not any better here at EIW than the off-campus stuff.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:I really hope 0Ls read this thread and think long and hard about coming to WashU. Didn't say anyone was screwed. Especially those with scholarships, its not a bad place to be. I did say outside the top of the class you will have to hustle outside of OCI. i think that's fairly obvious at this point.Anonymous User wrote:i think we should wait to see how things actually pan out before warning 0L's. not getting a certain number of screeners from EIW/Off-Campus days is certainly not a great position to be in, but it's too early to categorically say that you're screwed if you're outside the top 20% or something

Re: WUSTL OCI/EIW 2014
From what I was able to glean last year, interviews started to drop off precipitously after the top 20%, to the point where median will be lucky to get alternates, and top 33% only got interviews with the firms that interview tons of candidates (e.g. Bryan Cave) or if they had IP or something else on their resume that is attractive to firms. Also, just because people get tons of interviews doesn't mean they're going to have much success at OCI. Essentially, the same 20-30 people will get almost all of the interviews. Those few with the best grades and interview skills will do very well, while others will struggle. The nature of 100% preselect means that if you're around top 20%, you will probably get lots of interviews, but you will also be on the low end of grades among interviewees for most firms, which means you have to do more work to get the callback. I was just shy of top 15% last year, and I remember absolutely killing one interview and being somewhat surprised to not get a callback. I asked CSO to followup with the interviewer for me to get feedback, and she said that while she was very impressed with me, she was only authorized to give one callback, and I was her second choice.Anonymous User wrote:i think we should wait to see how things actually pan out before warning 0L's. not getting a certain number of screeners from EIW/Off-Campus days is certainly not a great position to be in, but it's too early to categorically say that you're screwed if you're outside the top 20% or something
Not to spout doom and gloom or anything, but just letting people who get tons of interviews know that they shouldn't be getting complacent. I waited until mid-August to mass-mail. Don't make that mistake.

Re: WUSTL OCI/EIW 2014
TBF I think a lot of people come here "knowing" that, but not realizing that the nature of the curve means we can't all be top 20%. Also I think a lot of people read that we place around 30% into biglaw at graduation and think oh, that means top 1/3 you're safe. No one is safe, there will be people below median with great connections to weird markets and people in the top 20% who strike out. But these threads would be an amazing set of data for 0L's looking to make decisions- it doesn't look like last year's had people posting their exact stats and screeners, that really only happened in SEMW for some reason (crazy gunners I guess).Anonymous User wrote:Didn't say anyone was screwed. ^ Also thanks to the person above, good reminder right now, screeners =/= offer.

Does any of the 3Ls know whats the timeline from screener to callback or whenever we should hear back?

Re: WUSTL OCI/EIW 2014
I don't think that people below the top 20% are screwed. I do think that the time spent mass-mailing and doing OCI shit in July could be much better spent in May and June filling out transfer applications. Unless you are in the top 10%, it's much better to have transferred and participated in a well-stocked OCI, and Wash U has just enough pedigree to be a launching pad to bigger and better things.

I usually heard a few days after. Some are same day, others take a long time.Anonymous User wrote:Does any of the 3Ls know whats the timeline from screener to callback or whenever we should hear back?
I also did my best to accept the callback ASAP and schedule it as soon as possible - including the next day one time. Who knows how many offers and I just wanted to be first if possible. At a v40 firm.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
