Supreme) today saying he is not hiring this term.kalvano wrote:Here is everything I have gotten via letter or email, sorted by state. It should be pretty comprehensive, but I might have missed one or two.
WA:
Supreme Court, Gonzalez - already hired.
Supreme Court, Johnson - will contact in the fall if wanting to interview.
Supreme Court, Fairhurst - already hired.
Supreme Court, Stephens - already hired.
Supreme Court, Wiggins - done hiring.
COA, Robert Leach - already hired.
COA Division II, Hunt - already hired.
COA Divison II, Quinn-Brintnall - already hired.
COA Division III, Sweeney - no clerks for the next couple years. No budget.
COA Division III, Brown - all positions filled.
COA Division I, Cox - is hiring, just not me. May have already filled his staff.
COA Division I, Lau - already hired.
COA Division I, Dwyer - currently reviewing applications.
PA:
Supreme Court, Seamus McCaffery - does not hire term clerks, only permanent ones.
Supreme Court, Debra Todd - all positions filled.
Supreme Court, Michael Eakin - unsure about hiring clerks.
Superior Court, Cheryl Lynn Allen - no positions available.
Superior Court, Stephen McEwen - leaving the court at year's end, not hiring.
Superior Court, William Platt - no openings at present time.
Superior Court, Kate Ford Elliot - no current or expected openings.
Superior Court, John Bender - no current openings.
Superior Court, Sallie Updyke Mundy - no current or anticipated openings.
Superior Court, Christine Donohue - no clerk openings.
Superior Court, Gene Strassburger - no clerk openings.
Superior Court, Judith Olson - no current openings.
Superior Court, Robert Colville - no current openings.
Superior Court, David Wecht - currently under consideration.
Superior Court, James Fitzgerald - no openings.
Superior Court, Susan Peikes Gantman - no openings.
Superior Court, Paula Ott - no vacancies.
Commonwealth Court, Mary Hannah Leavitt - uncertain about hiring needs, but taking applications in case a position arises.
Commonwealth Court, Bernard McGinley - no current openings.
Commonwealth Court, Renee Cohn Jubelirer - no current or anticipated openings. Wrote me a nice handwritten note in her letter.
Commonwealth Court, Wesley Oler - senior judge, doesn't take clerks.
Court of Common Pleas, Keith Quigley - senior judge, does not take clerks.
NC:
Supreme Court, Robert Edmunds - already hired.
COA, John Martin - not currently hiring, may or may not.
COA, Robert Hunter - currently under consideration, interviews in the fall.
COA, Linda McGee - no current openings, check back in February/March.
COA, Wanda Bryant - currently considering applications.
COA, Ann Marie Calabria - all positions filled.
WI:
COA, Gary Sherman - not hiring for 2013-2014.
COA District II, Lisa Neubauer - no clerk positions.
Jubelirer also wrote me a nice handwritten not that I somewhat appreciated.
I take that to mean "no openings because no one is leaving." Possibly he has all career clerks like most Superior and Common Pleas Court judges in PA.

Had a few trial court and App Div interviews this week and a few more next week. I got the sense that judges are finishing all of the interviews scheduled before making a decision. A few stated that they would be making decisions in mid-October.Anonymous User wrote:Anybody accepted any NJ offers yet? Had trial court interview last week, another next week.

Re: State Court Clerkships
Sorry to interrupt, I'm a 2L right now but I might be looking at clerking in Jersey after graduation.
I know RU/Seton kids are funneled into trial court clerkships there, does that mean it is easier to get one in Jersey or is it tough as shit like everywhere else? (assuming you're from there)
Also, do you HAVE TO write a note to apply?

Does anyone know why the Conn App. Ct. has yet to make calls? I believe the Supremes there are done. I was expecting that they would call shortly thereafter.

So does CT COA usually send all invites in the one day, or is it spread out?
Sad panda if one day.

I do not know for certain, but I think it may be just one day of notifications. The interview email was fairly comprehensive (e.g., if you received interviews for multiple judges they were all scheduled together).kalvano wrote:So does CT COA usually send all invites in the one day, or is it spread out?

The SJC window finally closed, does anyone know how shortly thereafter they make calls? It seems to be that they are way behind.

Re: State Court Clerkships
I have questions for those with knowledge of state clerkships. For how long do these clerkships last? What kind of jobs do people usually enter after their clerkships are over? Answers to these questions would be helpful in evaluating which law school to attend. Thank you.

I just got an email acknowledgement from them telling me not to expect to hear for a while, so I get the impression that at least some of the judges are taking their time and waiting for the window to close.Anonymous User wrote:Another student from my school received an interview yesterday from MA Appeals CourtAnonymous User wrote:Any updates on the Massachusetts Appeals Court applications?

Re: State Court Clerkships
I think that was just a default reply to your application. The way it works is that everyone has a screener with the App. Ct. managing attorney and then applicants are passed on to the individual judges.Anonymous User wrote:I just got an email acknowledgement from them telling me not to expect to hear for a while, so I get the impression that at least some of the judges are taking their time and waiting for the window to close.Anonymous User wrote:Another student from my school received an interview yesterday from MA Appeals CourtAnonymous User wrote:Any updates on the Massachusetts Appeals Court applications?

Yes, I am quite sure it is an automated reply. That is an interesting way to do the interviews, I have never heard of a clerkship application process quite like that.frank galvin wrote:I think that was just a default reply to your application. I know that Justice David on IN SC hasn't looked at applications, and a couple others aren't hiring. My guess is that 3 of the Justices are still hiring.
