I don't get the payscale. Minnesota has more Fortune 500 companies per capita than any other state in the Union--Target, Best Buy, 3M, General Mills, United Health, etc. (Not to mention Cargill). So why is it that a starting associate in El Paso, TX or in Springfield, IL makes $145k, and a starting associate in MN makes $110k? What gives?

smallish legal market (legal jobs...not potential clients) with a shit ton of schools/grads/natives returning. Cities like NY or Chi can get away with it because the market is bigger with national firms. Most firms in MN are located primarily in MN or regionally at best. There are firms like fish and richardson or DLA piper with offices there that pay NY market or closer to it.Anonymous User wrote:I don't get the payscale. Depends on the firm. Dorsey corporate not so great but faegre and winthrop are diing well. Dorsey litigation is busy as are many other firms in that area.
