fwiw, at my school's pre-recruiting panel (CCN), there were now-3Ls who said they didn't have an offer until october of last year. i know things have changed somewhat since then, but unless you've gotten dings from all your cbs, there is still a possibility you could get something.

also, keep in mind the hospitality suite resume drops you probably did--you likely won't be hearing back from those until they can assess how many acceptances they have from regular OCI interviews. that probably won't be till next month, because some offers given in august won't close till nearly the end of september...so there may be a chance of securing a cb through one of those. keep your chin up

Depends on the market you're in and the firms you're interviewing with. I have 4 CBs so far, and the four firms are taking a combined total of 10-14 attorneys. A few of them are calling back waaaay more people than they are offering. One of the firms is calling back about 12 people from my school alone, and they're hiring 2 people. So it is really not that hard to strike out if the conditions are right.

For people with NYC biglaw CBs, I have no idea how you strike out with 6+ CBs.

I had a CB with this firm this week. Kind of crazy how many people they're bringing in for so few spots. Disheartening, for sure!

There were also jobless 3Ls who were not invited to the panel.

well yeah...i'm not discounting the existence of jobless 3Ls, just saying that it's not impossible that people with no offer at this point in time will eventually get something in a few weeks.

Me too. Maybe we are doing the CB at the same firm. Its like 5 CBs per offer.

The medium sized firms in the Midwest are the absolute worst about this. They interview 20 people at 8 schools, call back 3-4 from each school, and then hire 3 or so. Getting a screener, or even a CB, is next to meaningless sometimes.

2 screeners, only 1 through OCI. 1 CB from one, silence (presumed ding) from the OCI screener. Another CB from mass mail. Radio silence for weeks from both CBs, minus some encouraging replies to my TY emails.

Thinking I should mass mail more, but pretty sure that is hopeless. Median at ~T30.

UPDATE: Got a V100 offer, even though I only had 1 CB from OCI and 1 from mass mail.

6 CBs done so far (4 to go). No offers, no dings. Even split between NYC and regional callbacks. I'm only 50% worried because the regional firms all have small class sizes (~5 people). I interviewed with my first NYC firm on Tuesday so....I'm hoping the lack of any offers is just part of the normal waiting time.

eek. about 1 more week with no offer and I will freak out.

Had the CB today. From my perspective it couldnt have gone better. But all my screeners felt the same way and got dinged on all but one. Bout ready to drown my sorrows.

It's still pretty damn early guys. This time last year I had done 6 callbacks with total silence. Then I got 2 offers during the September "teens" and then another one the first week of October (5 weeks post CB!). And last year didn't have all the weather problems of this year.

I talked with a 3L at my school who didn't get any offers out of OGI, and the best advice she had for me was something along the lines of "never give up." Sounds cheesy and extremely simple, but it's helped me from getting discouraged. Just gotta keep on blasting.
