Where does 6 H's put you in terms of ranking? I'm not having very much luck.

Really? Which market are you targeting? I'm at 7 H's and I've gotten a ton of callbacks from NYC and a few from DC.

I think 10 sounds about right... I have median grades and 10 so far? Good WE though.

I was told by a legal recruiter that median was 2-4 H's and the rest P's.....I think more callbacks are going to come, judging from the CLS thread firms make callbacks on a rolling basis, so give it a couple weeks...

4 Hs here.
Have received 4 callbacks one in each market Boston DC SF NYC. Nothing above V30 though so far. I may just be a particularly bad interviewer.

Below median rising Harvard 3L here who struck out at EIP but still ended up with an offer a 145k firm job. My best advice to any 2L's with less than 3 CB's is to start mailing midlaw firms NOW; don't wait until after you've heard back from other firms, right now making less than 160k may seem like a "failure" but trust me its better than explaining to your friends why you took some no-name public interest job your 2L summer. Go to NALP look at the hundreds of firms that are paying 100-145k and start sending out resumes and cover letters. Also send out resumes, cover letters and transcripts to firms in your target market that you didn't have the chance to interview with at EIP, I scored a few CB's this way. Some of you will ignore this advice and pay dearly. There are dozens of firms in that 100-145k range in NYC and DC that would kill for Harvard grads but if you wait then you'll have no chance. Losing out on 20k a year will seem like peanuts when you're clearing traffic tickets in county court for 50k a year. I'm not trying to scare you guys, just being frank.

To the 4 H's guy----you probably spread yourself to thin by going after multiple markets, if you had focused on NYC you probably would've got 6 or 7...

Ed to hls 3L... Do you guys remember OCS sending an email about firms not interviewing at HLS but recruiting elsewhere? Broken down by market? Can someone tell me thedate or point me towards where I'd find it on the website?

Don't feel bad 4H a lot of people did that I know people that were doing MIA-CA-NYC-DC but you'll be alright 4H's is close too or at the top third of the class

People who know people that have gotten large numbers of callbacks: Do you know if they were looking mainly in NY? I have 8Hs and focused mainly on DC, but did a few NY firms. I have heard back from most of them, but not a peep from DC. I'm ever so slightly starting to freak out.

I have 7Hs and 15 callbacks, only applied in NYC. I have a friend who applied to LA firms and I know he's heard from maybe five of them and has some callbacks, but I do think that on the whole NYC has done their callbacks and most other places haven't.

From another school (T14): People with top 5%+ credentials, LR, ties, personality, etc. who bid on DC from my school often saw a 20-30% callback ratio (some better and some worse, but I've literally never heard of somebody going better than ~50%) from DC firms and a 70-100% callback ration from NYC firms. The DC firms, with a few exceptions, also tended to make their decisions (in either direction) muuuuuch more slowly.

In short: Abandon all hope ye who enter the DC legal market.

I've found this to be the case as well. With the exception of a couple people I know with truly outstanding credentials (in addition to top 5% grades), 25% seems to be the norm in DC. Since many have reduced their class sizes by a lot, the competition is fierce.

Ya, I also stupidly interviewed with the top firms in each market:
E.g.: Wilmer/Ropes for Boston; Latham/Orrick/OMM for SF; W&C/Covington for DC; Cravath on down for NYC.

I guess the fact that I have 4 is really a feat in and of itself considering my bid list. I actually am expecting at least one or two more next week.

My story is really one is how NOT to bid for EIP. Oh well.

I have a weird grade breakdown (1 DS, 5 Hs (including that DS), 4 Ps, 1 LP), and I've received 6 callbacks to this point on 18 interviews, including a couple V20s.

You must not have been in section 2 or section 5. I had the misfortune in being in one of the 2 sections that accounted for almost half of law review. 7 from section 2 and 9 from section 5. And some of 5's heavy hitters didn't even make it.

I know you said, per section. I was just venting my frustration of being tossed in with a freak section.
