Upstate firms move a little slower than bigger markets, but you probably should've heard something by nowAnonymous User wrote:Has anyone else heard any movement with Syr/Roc firms?

Re: Upstate NY Employment Thread
Right - I've had four CBs and a couple more recent screeners in Syracuse/Rochester, but I'm from an out of state school. I was trying to see the timeline of others, including those who are in-state and may have interviewed before/after I did.Anonymous User wrote:Upstate firms move a little slower than bigger markets, but you probably should've heard something by nowAnonymous User wrote:Has anyone else heard any movement with Syr/Roc firms?

How far along are these upstate firms in the process? Are they behind the national markets? How far behind? Have offers gone out yet? How much of their classes are filed already?

Can't speak for this year, but in past couple of years, my offer from an upstate firm came around now.Anonymous User wrote:Interested in this as well.Anonymous User wrote:How far along are these upstate firms in the process? I had a recent CB with Woods Oviatt, and I think they said they're wrapping up CBs this week and anticipate making decisions shortly thereafter

I turned down offers from Hinman, Howard & Kattell and Hancock Estabrook. Snail mail ding from BSK dated the day I followed up with them about having other offers in hand (so if you're still waiting, I would take that into consideration before following up.)

Am I too late to apply to Rochester firms for a position starting in Fall 2014? 2013 graduate currently serving in a PA state court clerkship. I would like to relocate to Rochester permanently beginning fall 2014.

Current clerk here - Recently reached out to a few Rochester firms via emails sent to the recruiting contact listed on their web page and emails sent directly to attorneys in my area of interest. I've gotten a pretty good response so far. No interview offers yet, but no flat out "no"s either.

What do upstate NY firms, particularly the ones in Albany, tend to pay new associates? Do the Biglaw offices there pay market or close to it?
