So true. I just found out our summers aren't getting offers. I'm not sure if they know yet. They were a little odd, but certainly not deserving of a 0/2 offer rate. In NYC they would both get offers, if for no other reason than to help the firm maintain a 100% offer rate.SA2014 wrote:Words of advice to 0L's and Rising 2L's headed into OCI:

I got one of these. I thought it was beyond awkward. (I did recommend an offer though).haosquared wrote:Junior associate here. Summer associate I worked with gave me something and a thank you card. I got along really well with the other summer as well as the associates. The few that I reached out to afterwards were pretty surprised that I didn't get an offer, especially since I had done good work for them. Of course, they had no say in the hiring process, so it didn't really matter.rickgrimes69 wrote: How did you get along with the other associates?

yeah seriously, I did the same thing but with Florida courts and the partner just told me to change it. I even was a little resistant at first and was like "but I followed blue book" like a moron, and he was cool with it and it was a tiny issueAnonymous User wrote:I did the same exact thing in my 1L SA. Wasn't a big deal. Sounds like you dealt with a psychotic partner.Anonymous User wrote:Minor citation errors, like citing to the Pacific Reporter instead of California Appellate Reporter (because I was blindly following the Bluebook...). Also, I know for a fact that the other summer turned in his first assignment to this partner late, but he was okay with that. Just not okay with my citations...

I'm not trying to be a dick, but why didn't you guys just ask the librarian/word processing people to do citations for you?

That's not what either of those services are for at my firm.

Got an offer to come back next summer, feeling good since I went in expecting a fairly lukewarm message. Phew.

Third to last day of work. I'm going to miss free food. Thankfully I'm headed back to law school, where there's a shitload more free food; just not as good.
We don't hear about offers until the week after our last day; I wish they would just tell us at our final review.

Just got a lunch invite from an associate. Also attending the lunch: the parter who will have told me my offer fate basically right before. Had a few hiccups this summer, so this could be one awkward lunch.

My firm is in NYC and our class size is very similar. A lot of firms have between 7-20 SA's.SA2014 wrote:Class size of 10 is really small especially if it's a major market.............is it NYC/DC?Anonymous User wrote:V50 firm, Major market - Rumor is we are no offing 2 out of ~10

Wait is killing me. Was told by department head that his initial look over reviews showed that they were all good and he was optimistic there is a spot. He said I would learn very soon after program ended (last Friday). Heard nothing since. Thought I was set because so positive, but getting more nervous as time passes. Firm is 90%+ but my department hasn't had a summer in years.

Because law students are the third most insufferable grad school population. Med school and philosophy students are tied for #1.jbagelboy wrote:I don't understand the people that do thisAnonymous User wrote:Someone posted on FB that they were offered at debevoise today. I've never understood how butthurt people get about stuff like that. I mean obviously if someone is constantly posting shit about their firm it's unbearable, but just one time when you get a full time offer? Are you ever allowed to post when something good happens in your legal career? A large part of why FB exists is to share big life events with your friends and family. Does everyone really need to censor themselves completely just because some of their friends might not be as fortunate?

A serious question: If I'm up working until 3:30 am tonight, and I have to be up at 6:15 am, is it worth going to sleep? I also need to wake up at 5:00 am the day after that, and I'll be out late that night. Advice?
The good news is that there is absolutely no line at Chipotle. The bad news is that I'm only here because I have to work this weekend. So is the no-line business really a win? Lol
