Just talked to someone who had a post-screener ding from the Portland/Seattle Perkins Coie office (still radio silence for me). Did anyone get/hear of anyone getting CBs from them?

Well, I didn't even get invited to a dinner, so that probably describes my chances pretty accurately.Anonymous User wrote:Invited to the dinner, no word since.Anonymous User wrote:Just talked to someone who had a post-screener ding from the Portland/Seattle Perkins Coie office (still radio silence for me). eta: was the dinner all offices? Portland/Seattle were interviewing separately from the others.

Just to add to the confusion, I got a PDX/SEA PC CB without any invitation for dinner. As a heads up, they're infamous for being deliberate (read: slow) in their choices, so non-rejection actually may mean you're still in contention, unlike everywhere else where it means the ding is in the mail.Anonymous User wrote:Well, I didn't even get invited to a dinner, so that probably describes my chances pretty accurately.Anonymous User wrote:Invited to the dinner, no word since.Anonymous User wrote:Just talked to someone who had a post-screener ding from the Portland/Seattle Perkins Coie office (still radio silence for me). While we are on the subject of Perkins, quite the nerve of them to ding me and then ask for information for their records two weeks later with a promise to get back to me soon...

That's really annoying BUT you have something marketable, obviously. Just keep grinding.Anonymous User wrote:While we are on the subject of Perkins, quite the nerve of them to ding me and then ask for information for their records two weeks later with a promise to get back to me soon...

FWIW, Perkins may have had some problems calculating its yield this year. At one - possibly more - school, its interviewer had to reschedule to video interviews, causing mass cancellations from interviewees who couldn't get to the videoconferencing place and get to their next interview on time.

Sidley (Chi) movement- Received an offer this morning. The woman I spoke with implied that Sidley's Northwestern recruitment team just met for this first time in a while to make decisions. My CB was on 8/23, so don't discount yourself if you also had a CB long ago and haven't heard yet!

Re: NU OCI 2013/The Great Jerb Hunt
Since OCI is now over and I would imagine that responses are slowing to a trickle, would folks be interested in sharing tips/results for next year's class?
I wish I had known that one firm would ask about my undergrad GPA. As a sub-3.0 splitter, I basically sputtered for a while. What I should have done was explain quickly what it was and why, and then point to my NU GPA, which was, unsurprisingly, better. So, future splitters, have a decent canned answer for that question just in case.

Re: NU OCI 2013/The Great Jerb Hunt
My tip is to have a computer or ipad with you to look up firms/interviewers, since sometimes you don't get the correct name ahead of time.
Also, arrive at least 15 minutes early to cool down, fix your hair, find the room, get a drink of water, etc.
Have more than one suit and several (3+) shirts and don't take them to the cleaners at the same time.
Also, don't be sick with a raging fever (this will probably out me
) If you ARE sick, do nothing except interviews and interview research. Don't unpack if you just got back to town, don't move apartments, don't go out, get your groceries and meals delivered, and SLEEP as much as you can so you only ruin 2-3 days of OCI instead of a week. If you do have an interview in the midst of a horrible fever sweat, explain it to the interviewers so they don't think you were late and sprinted there.
Have a printer at home. SO much stress avoided by not having to use campus printers. The lowest wireless Brother laser printer that does automatic duplex is one of the best $80 I've ever spent.
