Don't buy the hype. Search news articles from the last 7 years and you'll see that every major media outlet said we were about to enter a recession. Everyone wants to be Nostradamus these days.smaug wrote:I'm honestly getting worried we are going to repeat 07/08 soon.

I'm more looking at hiring patterns, benefits getting slashed, &c.
Worse I don't really think it's outside forces but rather the PPP wars that are driving it, but it doesn't change the reality on the ground.

Not necessarily, but probably. There has always been a 2000 hours requirement and a performance memo in September said as much, they just have adjusted it to 1950 every year when the bonuses drop for as long as most can remember. In non-NY office they re-forwarded September memo hilighting only the 2000 requirement. Assuming the same happened in NY?Anonymous User wrote:Paul Hasting NYC moved from 1950 to 2000 hours for bonus.

Are you in DC? An associate in FCPA there told me that his partner stressed 2000 in a face to face convo about making hours. (like an FCPA associate at our firm is really going to bill under 2000 lol)
I think they are eliminating the 50 hour grace period. It's bullshit.

I doubt it but who knows. Skadden is so massive I could see someone slipping between the cracks where even the tiniest of tiny partners can't reach.El Pollito wrote:does anyone at skadden who isnt about to be fired really bill 1800?

Bullshit indeed. Nope, different office but we've gotten in-person pressure too from management.Anonymous User wrote:Yes that happened in NY too.Anonymous User wrote:Not necessarily, but probably. The new PAT system makes the ENDZONE more exciting. A lot of associates go for two because kicking a 30 yarder in heels is hard as fuck. I heard Susie in Lit tired out of the Steelers but didn't make the cut.smaug wrote:New associates in the Paul Hastings ENDZONE will be able too cheer each other on to 2000 and beyond

fucking eichmannsSome associates who billed well above and beyond the minimum of 1600 hours felt it was unfair that they weren’t being adequately compensated for their hard work, and raised that issue in their survey responses.
also, this is amazing
Everyone in the room was awestruck and was taken aback by the announcement. Afterward they had a reception where all associates had to share one plate of cheese. It was humiliating.

If a base salary increase does not follow this news, then NYC Biglaw is in trouble when it comes to recruiting. 160k in Philadelphia goes a long way.
