Oh wow, look how when people would rather discuss specific jobs and they think that it's better to maybe start a specific thread they don't command that everyone conform to them!Brut wrote:you doing pilc fair philly?

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2017
Had a callback with firm B after accepting a first-half offer from firm A. Didn't mention the accepted offer to firm B. I found out pretty early in the callback that firm B doesn't like to do second-half internships. I didn't cut the callback short or anything like that, thinking that maybe it wasn't a hard-and-fast rule.
Got an offer from B a few days later, and sure enough, they won't do a second-half internship, so I had to decline. I know that job hunting should probably be "always business, never personal", but I feel bad about declining, and I'm wondering if I should have told them about my accepted first-half offer up front and given them a chance to cancel the callback?

too late now, best not to worry about it. i probably would tell someone up front though, saves both you and them time if they dont allow splitsAnonymous User wrote:Had a callback with firm B after accepting a first-half offer from firm A. Thanks, that makes sense. I'm just now learning that even when a firm says they *do* allow splits, the unspoken rest of the sentence is usually "as long as we're the first half."Kratos wrote:too late now, best not to worry about it. i probably would tell someone up front though, saves both you and them time if they dont allow splitsAnonymous User wrote:Had a callback with firm B after accepting a first-half offer from firm A. How bad is it to use the wrong firm name in an email and then follow up with an apology.

Yeah, but it's one thing to be harsh to yourself. Being harsh to a fellow 1L who's undoubtedly anxious and terrified about the job process is unnecessary.phillywc wrote:i mean i made a typo of the firms name on an app and will get dinged and feel like i deserve itkoalacity wrote:Little harsh, Gretch.phillywc wrote:you probably are not going to get a job, and rightfully soAnonymous User wrote:So related question

As long as you didn't mention in your resume or cover letter that attention to detail was one of your strengths, I don't think they'll care.phillywc wrote:i mean i made a typo of the firms name on an app and will get dinged and feel like i deserve itkoalacity wrote:Little harsh, Gretch.phillywc wrote:you probably are not going to get a job, and rightfully soAnonymous User wrote:So related question

Yeah. I never understood this. How do people even split? Every firm that allows it "must be the first half."Anonymous User wrote:Thanks, that makes sense. Had a Skadden NYC callback earlier this week. Was promised a response by the end of this week.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
