major firms cutting benefits more likely to means layoffs are coming than base salary increases.

This just creates more incentive to raise since there's less chance of the entire market matching if the have nots are struggling with their bennies.Anonymous User wrote:major firms cutting benefits more likely to means layoffs are coming than base salary increases.

If this even happened, apparently Chicago isn't included in firm wideMCFC wrote:Any updates on this?Anonymous User wrote:Skadden is hosting an impromptu firmwide meeting next Tuesday. The invitation specifically mentions that a cocktail party will follow.

The meeting would be tomorrow if it is happening...can we get any confirmation of that? Just NYC or other cities as well?Anonymous User wrote:If this even happened, apparently Chicago isn't included in firm wideMCFC wrote:Any updates on this?Anonymous User wrote:Skadden is hosting an impromptu firmwide meeting next Tuesday. Skadden bought their silence. I don't think I need to tell you what they paid.Mamba1991 wrote:Wouldn't this Chicago guy know about it if this was happening tomorrow? E-Mail says a partner in NY office will be discussing the results of the Firmwide Survey in one of the NYC conference rooms. I'm in NY, can't speak to other offices receiving this e-mail.Mamba1991 wrote:Wouldn't this Chicago guy know about it if this was happening tomorrow? I hope that when they were asked what they wanted to be paid, the Skadden associates wrote AT LEAST 190K down on that survey.
Looking forward to the Skadden party tonight putting this baby to rest once and for all.
We did it guys!

I miss the days of clandestine interception of information and anon abuse secret sharing. Now we're getting links to ATL articles unrelated to the 190k movement?

I thought the point of this thread was not only to prophesize the impending salary hike but also post all things tangentially related to such salary hike so we can (a) satiate our unquenchable thirst for more information and (b) read way too much into firm movements.

I'd post about 190k but a tiny partner has been camping on my monitor to make sure I keep billing. I can only post from the bathroom. It's tragic.

3L friend received formal letter from firm with first year salary listed at $160. Not even a "might change" or any other hedging. Just a "$160k."
I bet they're gonna fire their printer company when they realize all their 9's are printing upside down.
