Some words of encouragement. I also had a disappointing OCI / early part of the process and ended up with 3 more CBs and a higher vault NYC offer through recent MM. Do not give up and do not listen to anyone who says things are fruitless. There are definitely still spots available, especially as people sitting on 5 offers cut down. Keep following up and something will come through.

I would like to see it as wellAnonymous User wrote:Mass Mailing really does work! I'm at a lower T14 with median grades and LR, and have gotten 2 CBs(1 V100, 1 V50) and 2 screeners(1 V30, 1 NLJ 250) from about 75 mailings. Every email I sent was to the recruiting contact NALP had, and my format was cover letter(barely individualized) as the email text with resume and transcript attached as PDFs.
If people want to see my cover letter for ideas, post non-anon below and ask for it so I can Pm you.

Friday night at 10:33 pm and all I can think about is the offers I don't have as I compile more and more firms to mail.

MM'd a bunch of firms for SAs last year, no luck. Time to start up again. Hopefully spots are opening up for full-time offers like previous posters mentioned.

Sorry, are you just starting MM'ing now?bsktbll28082 wrote:MM'd a bunch of firms for SAs last year, no luck. Time to start up again. Hopefully spots are opening up for full-time offers like previous posters mentioned.
That might be your problem right there. You're waiting until near the end of the hiring process to start sending out apps? You're in trouble, mate.

End of hiring process? Why is it the end of the hiring process if half the country hasn't released bar results?

Re: Reminder: Stop Reading Tea Leaves; Start Mass Mailing
Guys c'mon. One of the best posts about mass mailing on TLS is really filled with a bunch of questions about "should I still mass mail?"
Yes, its really late in the process and you should have been mass mailing weeks ago.
Yes, you should still do it.
Also to clarify this thread is largely directed at market paying SAs at big firms (generally for summer going into 3L year). Other job hiring timelines are different. It's nuts to see people with join dates of almost five years ago posting such odd stuff.

If you are looking for patent lit, mass mail Paul Hastings DC right now and I'm pretty damn sure you'll get a CB if your tech background passes a smell test. My friend there said they had a tough time converting offers to acceptances.
So yes, V50's are still hiring. But its getting late, mass mail yesterday.

Lots of mailing, not lots of success. I am getting a lot of "while your credentials are impressive, we don't want you here at Sweat Shop LLP" or something to that effectAnonymous User wrote:How's the mailing?

Had CB with them a week ago, got the rejection yesterday, which took me a little by surprise.Anonymous User wrote:If you are looking for patent lit, mass mail Paul Hastings DC right now and I'm pretty damn sure you'll get a CB if your tech background passes a smell test. If by "consensus" you mean "fifty pages of rabid disagreement," sure.Anonymous User wrote:Consensus is no thank-you emails after callbacks, right? Or is it definite? Or does it depend?
I interviewed with one firm I MM'd, and I really like the firm, but I can't say I had an "exceptional" interaction with any of them. They're a D.C. office, if it makes any difference.
But no, I never sent any.

Struck out at OCI. Are there any secondary markets that move a little big more slow that I should target to MM?

And the coveted Dingy Award goes to Andrews Kurth for the most polite and least superficial ding I've gotten all summer.

Think NY is still your best bet, even at this lateish stage. But I wouldn't discriminate.Anonymous User wrote:Struck out at OCI. Are there any secondary markets that move a little big more slow that I should target to MM?

Before I ask my question, I have been mailing religiously so I don't need the you should be mailing routine. I have a logistical question about how a waitlist operates. For candidates on post CB, pre-offer waitlists, do firms generally deny people off the waitlist at each hiring committee meeting, while they are waiting to hear from those who have offers, or is the decision of which waitlisted candidates will receive offers one that will be made after they have heard from all of their outstanding offers?

probably depends and doubt you're gonna get a definitive answer since there don't appear to be too many hiring committee members posting around her
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
