It's been radio silence... No callbacks, and I think my screeners went well. But 3.4 is hurting me for sure.

9 in Chicago
1 in NYC
2 Boston
5 around the midwest (IN, MI, OH, and KY)
1 in Miami
Dings from Paul Hastings, Proskauer, Drinker, W&C (Miami), Fried Frank(NYC), Chapman, Wilmerhale (MA), and silence from the rest. TCR is probably to start mass mailing to smaller firms in Chicago from that nifty list we've got on simplicity.

You can still mass mail all the NYC firms as well.Anonymous User wrote: Dings from Paul Hastings, Proskauer, Drinker, W&C (Miami), Fried Frank(NYC), Chapman, Wilmerhale (MA), and silence from the rest. No updates, but I just want to give a special shout-out to the Verizon employee who deleted all of my voicemails-- including voicemails I hadn't listened to that probably included at least one message dealing with callbacks-- while trying to do a routine fix to my phone.
The best part is that my phone had been off because I was on a flight so there's no way to recover the phone numbers of who tried to call me during the day. So if any firm called during that flight and left a voicemail inviting me for a callback or asking for more info, I won't know unless they call me back/drop me an email.

You can call Verizon or go on the website and see all the incoming calls.Anonymous User wrote:No updates, but I just want to give a special shout-out to the Verizon employee who deleted all of my voicemails-- including voicemails I hadn't listened to that probably included at least one message dealing with callbacks-- while trying to do a routine fix to my phone.

Wow, so you bid 4-5 different markets? This doesn't help now, but if anyone in the future reads this if you are going Chicago you should basically bid all Chicago. It's tough to bid Chicago and NYC because those are the two most popular markets. Also, general rule of thumb is stick to one or two markets in order to maximize your opportunities.Anonymous User wrote:

For help in your current situation you should be mass mailing NYC firms you didn't get a screener with and basically every other firm in any market you could see yourself working in,

This actually isn't true for my phone-- I just got off the phone with them. Because my phone was totally powered off, the calls never lodged in their system. I wish this would work, but it doesn't according to tech support. (Maybe it works for people with smart phones, but my phone is about as dumb as can be).Anonymous User wrote:You can call Verizon or go on the website and see all the incoming calls.Anonymous User wrote:No updates, but I just want to give a special shout-out to the Verizon employee who deleted all of my voicemails-- including voicemails I hadn't listened to that probably included at least one message dealing with callbacks-- while trying to do a routine fix to my phone.

And, yes, I will follow up with the firms I haven't heard back from yet. Just a frustrating thing to have happen.
Anyway, here's an update: Vinson & Elkins ding via email this morning.

Get yourself a google plus number (free). Forward all voicemails to that google plus number. Not only will voicemails be saved forever (unless you delete them) they're also transcribed (roughly) and emailed to you. Never have to encounter this problem again.Anonymous User wrote:

Okay, so I'll just say this and then stop mucking the board up with my personal voicemail problems:luckyjd wrote:Get yourself a google plus number. Forward all voicemails to that google plus number. I have a google plus number. I love my google plus number! You are right that it is awesome. It's also what caused the problem. When I tried to access my Verizon voicemail (which is where calls go when my phone is off because I don't know why), the system would kick me over to my google plus number. It normally works just fine, but this week it decided to not let me get into my voicemail account. The proper thing for Verizon to do would have been to remove my call forwarding, have me try to access my voicemail, and then reinstate it once I was able to check my voicemail. What they actually did, without asking me, was remove the voicemail feature from my Verizon plan entirely, thereby deleting all of my messages. They then reinstalled it, so now my voicemail feature works... but my mailbox is totally empty.
I appreciate all of your attempts to help, but the only thing I can do now is follow up with firms. And massmail, etc.

Keep your chin up. It's not that bad. Just call all the screener firms you haven't heard from yet (that can't be more than 10-15 or less?), tell them you situation, and I'm sure they'll be glad to re-0send your ding or CB.Anonymous User wrote: Okay, so I'll just say this and then stop mucking the board up with my personal voicemail problems:

In the meantime, you guys are scaring the shit otta me. I'm leaving my phone plugged into the wall and not touching it until this shit-storm is over. Certainly not gonna let some minimum-wage phone guy gfet his paws on it.

At this point, the only reason someone who reports an offer is to toot their own horn, because regular folls, once they get an actual offer, have the decency to slnnk away and not gloat over the rest of us.Anonymous User wrote:Any offers?? . Can't really see how it helps any of us except fueling speculation. If you don't get an offer by 2 weeks post-CB, then you should just resign yourself to a ding and resume mass mailing.

By that logic, the purpose of this entire thread would be to toot one's own horn and to fuel speculation. Not sure how reporting CBs is any different than reporting offers. I would want to know if offers were made... just my 2c.Anonymous User wrote:At this point, the only reason someone who reports an offer is to toot their own horn, because regular folls, once they get an actual offer, have the decency to slnnk away and not gloat over the rest of us.Anonymous User wrote:Any offers?? In a similar situation, except I bid more heavily Chicago (about 15 Chicago screeners, 10 or so dings, no CBs). Been mass mailing using the Chicago spreadsheet as well as NYC firms. I'm sticking with the mass mailing as I have nothing better to do, but honestly, how much of a waste of time is this?bk1 wrote:You can still mass mail all the NYC firms as well.Anonymous User wrote: Dings from Paul Hastings, Proskauer, Drinker, W&C (Miami), Fried Frank(NYC), Chapman, Wilmerhale (MA), and silence from the rest. Also, it looks like my summer grades will probably take me from a 3.6x to a 3.7, as well as balance out my shitty CLR grades with a solid writing grade. Is there any chance at mass mail success after grades come out in mid-September? I don't want to miss the boat so I'm applying now, but any chance sending an update in a couple weeks to the 3,000 firms that are ignoring me will help? Or should I just throw in the towel and spend my time gunning like hell for a clerkship?

I haven't gotten the chance to do any horn tooting, but was there another purpose to this thread? I thought everyone acknowledged it was straight up fuel for neurotic speculation? That said, I agree there's no real difference in reporting CBs and offers.Anonymous User wrote:By that logic, the purpose of this entire thread would be to toot one's own horn and to fuel speculation. Apply now, apply later... this is the most important thing to do now. As to your question, firms will not differentiate between a 3.6X and a 3.7. It is the same to them.Anonymous User wrote:In a similar situation, except I bid more heavily Chicago (about 15 Chicago screeners, 10 or so dings, no CBs). Ps, are you from Chicago?
Finally, make sure you are taking easy courses this semester. If you end up striking out, and have to continue mass mailing, it will be too stressful to study Fed Jur and Admin Law while worrying or flying for CBs. This applies to all of you who do not have offers by the time classes start, or by the time the drop/enroll deadline arrives.
