Yea I dunno why the brass thought they could keep the numbers under wraps. Def going to be some disgruntled folks down the line, so they shoulda just gone with uniform figures and eaten the extra costs.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:33 pmI’ve only heard about M&A, but was told by an M&A partner that it is also in other groups but not uniform (and she indicated I should not share the M&A number with other groups, which struck me as weird because of course it’ll all leak anyway).

So what practices groups are getting the most?
M&A, then M&A support (tax, exec comp) then everyone else?

Just to confirm: you’re saying that if you do M&A and you graduated in 2017 and you work at Skadden, you just got 100k dropped into your account (on top of all other general bonuses etc.)?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:04 pmI can confirm C/o 2017 M&A 100k. Any other data points to share?

I think the bonus is paid out middle of next year.objctnyrhnr wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:25 pmJust to confirm: you’re saying that if you do M&A and you graduated in 2017 and you work at Skadden, you just got 100k dropped into your account (on top of all other general bonuses etc.)?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:04 pmI can confirm C/o 2017 M&A 100k. Re: NY to 200k?!
Yes, except with the huge caveat that pay date is June 2022 and it’s contingent on staying till then. So mid-next-year special bonus announced nearly a year in advance.

While I could certainly be wrong (and hope that I am), this doesn’t have the look and feel of legitimate bonus announcements, not least of all because (1) Skadden is rarely if ever ah innovator in this regard and (2) I cannot fathom a scenario in which a firm the caliber of Skadden would pay differing amounts to associates depending on the perceived value of their groups.
Again, hope that I’m wrong, but if not, anon needs to get a life.

Is ATL reporting on this? Because if they haven't they absolutely should.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:30 pmI think the bonus is paid out middle of next year.objctnyrhnr wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:25 pmJust to confirm: you’re saying that if you do M&A and you graduated in 2017 and you work at Skadden, you just got 100k dropped into your account (on top of all other general bonuses etc.)?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:04 pmI can confirm C/o 2017 M&A 100k. Skadden hiring still or just focusing on retention (or both)?

Re: NY to 200k?!
There is no way they pay only to certain groups, that will cause a massive firm divide.

Re: NY to 200k?!
Totally understood that from the outside it sounds a little fishy, but def ping any of your Skadden buddies about it and they'll confirm. I also think it was a dumb move to have different payments per group/individual. No official email from the firm (I'm honestly not sure if there will be one? all the offers have been over phone lol) so I figure that's why it's taking so long for ATL to confirm.LawReview2020 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:45 pmWhile I could certainly be wrong (and hope that I am), this doesn’t have the look and feel of legitimate bonus announcements, not least of all because (1) Skadden is rarely if ever ah innovator in this regard and (2) I cannot fathom a scenario in which a firm the caliber of Skadden would pay differing amounts to associates depending on the perceived value of their groups.

There’s enough Skadden people on these forums that there should be an absolute flood of posts - 6 figure retention bonuses is as newsworthy as anything else that we have hundred post long threads about. Consider me deeply sceptical.

Re: NY to 200k?!
Friend in the New York office just confirmed six figure retention bonuses, and that it is only for transactional associates.
This needs to be shouted from the rooftops so it can spread.

On the other hand, no Skadden folks have popped in and denied it?Ultramar vistas wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 9:12 amThere’s enough Skadden people on these forums that there should be an absolute flood of posts - 6 figure retention bonuses is as newsworthy as anything else that we have hundred post long threads about. I respect their desire to keep details under wraps (whether misguided or not), but I got a call, and it's much more than I would expect for someone at my year (more than any bonus I have got to date by a significant amount).

Re: NY to 200k?!
I noticed that DPW on Vault just lists 205k as starting. Does this mean that 202.5k is dead? Did they (or other 202. 5) ever formally announce a shift to 205 for stubs?
