Mass Mailing really does work! I'm at a lower T14 with median grades and LR, and have gotten 2 CBs(1 V100, 1 V50) and 2 screeners(1 V30, 1 NLJ 250) from about 75 mailings. Every email I sent was to the recruiting contact NALP had, and my format was cover letter(barely individualized) as the email text with resume and transcript attached as PDFs.

If people want to see my cover letter for ideas, post non-anon below and ask for it so I can Pm you.

Going to start third-round contacts for firms I've emailed twice with no response.

Whom do I email - a hiring partner, an alum, whomever? And what is the general etiquette?

What is the protocol for mass mailing different branches of same firm @ the same time? I got dinged by HQ office, but firm of interest has more than one office in surrounding location, should I mass mail one at a time or all of them? What about if its the same recruiting contact for all?

If it's same recruiting contact for all, definitely not, because they may have centralized recruiting.
If not, definitely do it.

^ There are differing opinions on this. You probably shouldn't pitch different cities really hard to multiple offices of the same firm. Even if the recruiting contacts aren't shared, they can probably see your other cover letters.

if you already got dinged from the HQ it's not like you have anything to lose really by reapplying for a different office, even if it's the same recruiter

Below median at T-14...any luck? The only people I know who are getting responses from mass mailing are median bros with LR or something else that's super special. Seems they just got unlucky and struck out at OCI. The rest of us here are floundering.

Get out there get out there get out there! Lots of firms are confirming people for offers/acceptances now... which means lots of firms are still looking for people to hire, so get your damn foot in the door! Don't think - apply!

If it makes you feel any better (or worse), out of everyone I know at my CCN maybe 8 out of 10 still have nothing as of yet. No offers, no or few callbacks, nothing.

Below median at a UT/Vandy. Started mass mailing in mid july and have had NO luck. Mass mailing really seems to only be beneficial to those at median or above.

Do most firms send some sort of affirmative ding to mass mailers, or do they just give them the silent treatment?

Yesware is telling me that most of my mass mails go unopened, and the ones that are opened maybe only half actually open my resume/transcript/cover letter. I go to CCN, so they likely aren't just rejecting me based on my school (which is the only actual information they have)...what gives? What should I do with these?

That's just how mass mailing goes I think. Nothing you can do.

It's weird, there's definitely been a few situations where the tracker still said unopened, but I had actually gotten some kind of reply from the individual on the receiving end.

Consensus is no thank-you emails after callbacks, right? Or is it definite? Or does it depend?

I interviewed with one firm I MM'd, and I really like the firm, but I can't say I had an "exceptional" interaction with any of them. They're a D.C. office, if it makes any difference.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
