yeah... on the spot CBs were the norm but I think there were a few other CBs.

Once I have an offer I know I will accept over a handful of others (but not necessarily over all possible offers), is there any reason to keep the lesser callbacks? Can/should I cancel them?

I asked this question to a few people today. the consensus seems to be that it is in both yours and the firm's interest to cancel if you know you wouldn't take it over an offer you've gotten already.

please do cancel for other students' sake...it's kind of like becoming an organ donor.. you'd want everyone else to do the same.

unless I didn't like the V10 firm, I'd cancel.

Why in the world do firms call to reject? Do they tell over the phone why they're rejecting the candidate, too?

It's stupid, and it seems like only Cali firms do this.

Glad I didn't bid on any Cali offices then. So awkward, for them to be making a call they probably don't like to make and for us to receive calls we know we don't want to receive.

Meh. I'd love to have received a rejection-and-here's-why call early on during OCI - would have left time to improve for future interviews.

Email rejection from Jones Day in CA, and phone rejection from Orrick in SF. Thank you to the guy who unfortunately had to get the surprise of a phone rejection--seeing that post made me prepared for it. Still, wtf. I'm around a 3.1 as well but bid on just about all CA firms. I did a bunch of interviews and have had no success yet.

But I am doing real poorly as well. Think have about a 3.2 and interviewed primarily in NY and CA, with a couple in TX. No callbacks and a ton of dings, having interviewed with at least 30.

Still waiting to hear back from some more, though remain pessimistic. I believe the only firms I have still not heard from are:
Milbank, Wiggen & Dana, Baker and Hos, King & Spalding, Kaye Scholer,
Vinson & Elkins (NY, possibly TX), Sutherland,
Weil (Redwood and Dallas, general), Dechert LLP (London), Herbert Smith, Holland & Knight, and
Bickel & Brewer.

May be wrong. Been so numerous and constant that have lost count and track.

Sutherland NYC has given at least one CB.

the whole calling to reject you thing is extremely tacky unless they give good feedback

if it's just "sorry we don't want you" then they are a little sadistic

i would hope to get one after i had an offer so i could just tell them to piss off

I'd rather hear back sooner than later. A phone ding may be annoying because of getting your hopes up and all, but at least you aren't left in limbo like with snail mail.

There's a cool form of non-oral, immediate communication that doesn't get your hopes up. This is referred to as "electronic mail."

It's pretty stressful waiting on offer/no-offer after the callback. Can't remember the last time I was this stressed
