300 garbage restaurants. Unless you’re obsessed with instagramming overpriced garbage, NYC food is overrated af.Anonymous User wrote:I'm assuming this is rhetorical because obv noAnonymous User wrote:Let's stop pretending we still cook. $10 seamless minimum for 300 restaurants in NYC delivered to your door at any hour. The charm of NYC is that it runs the gamut from overpriced af to cheap hidden neighborhood gems all within delivery range. So your over generalization is off base and misses the entire draw of the NYC restaurant and delivery scene. Try again.Aergia wrote:300 garbage restaurants. Texas is cheap because it sucks. Chicago is cheap because it's cold. Denver and Seattle are cheaper because until recently they were barely real cities. SF/DC/NYC/LA are expensive because they're good in one way or another.
Everyone should just own that.

I've recently noticed that people in SF/SV are starting to develop the same masochistic attitude towards their living situation that New Yorkers have.oblig.lawl.ref wrote:Texas is cheap because it sucks. I thought the big law nyc folks were trying to say they should get paid more though. Why would they say that and try to make NYC look more attractive?malibustacy wrote:It's almost like NYC Big Law paid shills just suddenly came in here to hype up NYC haha

Yea let's all agree. Except DC, which is expensive and sucks. I'd take TX or CHI over DC. Nothing but idiots who wear suits unnecessarily

I've never heard of that website. What is the deal with it? Does it list the s&c and stb fringe benefits?

Nobody cares whether you post there or not, some people are just seizing the opportunity to get the word out for those who do want to post on an active forum since TLS died.Dw686 wrote:I’ve had about enough of the bullying from folks like yourself. Harrison Barnes finally removed the requirement that all posts be pre-approved by mods, although his auto word filters are still in place.
If mentions of another website really stress you out, I'm sure once the mods look at this thread again, any mention of L S L will be deleted.

Given the relative levels of activity between the forums (esp. outside the lounge), if tls is dead I'm not sure what the new forum is.Anonymous User wrote:Nobody cares whether you post there or not, some people are just seizing the opportunity to get the word out for those who do want to post on an active forum since TLS died.Dw686 wrote:I’ve had about enough of the bullying from folks like yourself. I’m guessing today is the day for some of the main players to match. Do it on a Friday afternoon so people aren’t getting distracted midweek (because that hasn’t been happening otherwise

Noting the distinct lack of Boston defenders in this east-west-bodega-WF debate. They're probably all busy lateraling to Proskauer Boston, which, TBH, is really like the DPW of Boston.

Re: NYC to 200k
Wish the bolded was still true in Houston. You can live well for 1800-2000/month, but "luxe" apartments often push over 3K. Now tbf, that is with 1000+ sq. feet in a new luxury building, but still, Houston, while still "cheap" compared to the coasts/chicago isnt cheap like it was 10-15 years ago.Anonymous User wrote:There are STB Houston first-years making $190,000 per year with a $5,000 summer surprise. They pay $1,000-2,000 (if luxe) in rent.
Cravath, Skadden, other eliTTTe firm associates: $180,000 per year, $90,000 after taxes. $2,000-3,500 in rent (for walk-up). <<<No bonus.>>>
No state sales tax is great until you buy a house. The property tax is stupid high here.

Re: NYC to 200k
I pay around $3500/month for a 1700 sq foot 2 bedroom apartment in an 85 story building built in 2017 with a full panoramic water view and a million building amenities in an area where I can walk to work, restaurants, and the grocery store. I also pay zero state or local income tax and the temperature is 75 degrees for 9 months of the year. No bodegas tho, so I guess NYC wins
Miami to $200k let's go.
