I wonder if the CB:Offer ratio for UChi will be better than NYC schools in NYC because the firm doesn't lose too much by calling back an NYC student but they have to pay a shit ton to get a Chicago student out there. Then again I guess the biggest loss is in the ~3 billable hours of interviewing.

JUST TRYING TO STAY OPTIMISTIC HERE.

Anyone else have 5+ firms with no answer either way yet? I've checked my actual mailbox so I don't think it's snail-mail dings (or if they are, they're still in the mail). A couple are from the first week of interviews, aka three weeks ago.

Silence from 12 firms. 13 if lunch interviews count

I've heard suggestions to apply to non-OCI firms, but if I just suck at interviewing is that likely to be successful? Could I do something else (like RAing) next summer and then try for 3L OCI?

I'd appreciate any encouragement about this. Feel like I jumped through all these stupid fucking hoops to get good grades, made myself miserable over the summer, and it was all for nothing.
For whatever it's worth I'm right there with you.
Why were you miserable during the summer? If you don't like law, now is a better time to figure that out than after you start working for big law firms. If you still like law, mass-mail every market. Your grades will get you the interview, but it's up to you to sell yourself. If you still have no callbacks and you can afford it, look into a joint degree so you can do OCI again next year.

3L OCI is almost nonexistent. Every 3L this year who did OCI had 1-2 screeners everyday, most of them with government agencies. If you're interested in government, you start applying now and have a position for the summer.
Thanks, I will try mass mailing. I still think I could tolerate practicing law--the misery was related to other circumstances. Anyway, I didn't get into this for personal happiness.

With the limited number of summer associate positions available for our upcoming summer, it is nearly impossible to invite back all the extraordinary students met on campus. After careful consideration, we have determined that we are not in a position to invite you to our Newport Beach office for further interviews. Our decision reflects no lack of confidence in your abilities, and we have no doubt that you will have a rewarding summer.

We wish you the very best with your legal career and thank you for your interest in O’Melveny & Myers LLP.

How long does it usually take firms to reimburse you for your expenses after you've submitted the NALP travel reimbursement form?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
