I know NALP gives plenty of time and stuff, but if I am lucky enough to get an offer will the person who gives me the offer expect me to respond immediately? If i want a day or 2 to think about it should i prepare a response, do i need to provide a reason, whats the norm?
From what I gather it's very normal for there to be a good-natured attempt to get you to accept on the spot but they are fine with/expect you to take some time to mull it over.

I'm URM and it's pretty obvious why I'm there. I am a victim of affirmative action.
I hope this is real and not some thinly veiled flame. Screw anyone who cares you didn't get your position based on "merit." There was a white woman in my summer class who earned her spot because of her family connections (she's below median) while the rest of use placed high in our respective classes. Her performance in school didn't make me think anything less of her as a person or as a potential future colleague. At the end of the day, all that matters is that you put forth a quality work product. Your ability to perform well is it not always indicated by your grades. You should also remember that your GPA is not the only value you bring to your firm.

Just my 2 cents worth as a non-URM "person of color", but I really think you've got to get off that self-pitying track and "grow a pair." Accept the fact that you made it into the firm, period, and whether you stay there is up to your performance and not your "victim" status.

Walking around your firm while moping that the only reason you're there is because of your URM status is a self-fulfilling prophesy, and a is a sure-fire way to get canned. In the end, nobody wants to waste time soothing your hurt feelings. Besides, your attitude diminishes the accomplishments of all URM's.

Pretty sure offers for the Big 3 don't go out until early/mid August. One of the 3 where I SAed said they won't send out offers (for rising 3Ls) until after first week of August (and to disregard everything else as baseless rumor). I'm guessing the others are about the same.

Rising 2Ls might get theirs a little earlier though...
I wrote this and I can confirm that I was wrong (about the other two firms).
Still on course for first week of August at the one left though right? I'm assuming we were in the same class since I haven't heard from my Big 3 Houston first half yet.
I think all of the Houston Big 3 have started (or finished) giving out offers now.

I don't think all the Houston Big 3 have made offers yet. The firm I was at still hasn't been in touch with me or the other summers I've talked to.

So my final review is next week and I'm stressing out big time. We had midterm reviews and that went fine, but when they asked if I had questions, I actually had questions. With the final review, my only question is "did I get an offer" but my firm does not make offers until 2 weeks after the program ends. Any TCR on final review questions?

Golf outing yesterday, driving golf cart with partner. I was a little over-eager with the cart on a hilly area and we were a second away from tipping over and hitting a tree (but recovered). Next week is my last week.

Don't ask questions. Thank them for the opportunity, tell them how much you enjoyed the summer and let them know that you'd be excited to be working for them next fall. Give every indication that you're 100% going to accept and you'd consider it a privilege to work there.

OP here. The thing is, I know what their GPA cutoffs are and, even if I get an offer, I know that I will have one of the worst GPAs they've ever hired from my T20 school (at least in the last five years). How will I be able to look anyone straight in the eye?

I'm URM and it's pretty obvious why I'm there. I am a victim of affirmative action.
I only check this forum occasionally nowadays, but I had to remember my log in and password today just to comment on this.

I am a URM myself, was once in your situation, and had similar feelings. Justified or not, I understand how you feel. Impostor syndrome is a powerful thing with us URMs, and in my case, it did become a self-fulling prophecy. But I have recovered quite nicely since, and am doing well.

All that said, what you wrote above (in bold) is an absolutely terrible thing to say. It is a slap in the face of both supporters AND opponents of affirmative action, or even anyone of any race or creed who has ever struggled for a chance to take a stab at something.

You are a victim because you were offered... an opportunity? No one forced you to take it. People would kill to have a stab at their dream. You take the opportunity, you reject it, you succeed or fail with it, but you do not call yourself a fucking victim of... an opportunity. That's just distasteful in the extreme. Unbelievable.

The OP here probably either consciously or otherwise grabbed the "victim" language from this book. It's not an excusable phrase, but it's also not their fault that it's out there

That's a huge and completely unfounded assumption (that of all the reasons for the terminology, OP just happened to have read this book), but it doesn't matter, does it? You plugged the book, congratulations!

So, I had to run back to the office to get something on a Friday evening last week. Pretty sure I walked in on one of my fellow summers getting a blowjob from his girlfriend in his office. I don't even know how to describe how bad that kid's judgment must be.

OK body, but wears so much makeup it drops her below the 5 mark. Girl looks like a raccoon every time.
